Deliver world class maintenance services for the tactical equipment used on the Cobre Panama mine site to a fleet consisting more than 800 mobile units of various makes.
The fleet being a mix of construction equipment, mobile cranes, fork trucks, mixed loading tools, generators, off highway trucks, on highway trucks and light vehicles.
Provide a safe workplace for all employees, customers and stake holders. Do no harm to the environment.
Manage team performance and effectiveness with regards to planned objectives, cost control, equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
Develop local personnel to become independent of expatriate support through short and long term methods.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama
Through personal standards, maintain an emphasis on safety, environmental responsibility and operational responsibility
Develop and implement best practice maintenance program for mobile equipment.
Implement and coordinate equipment condition monitoring program for mobile and fixed equipment.
Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting as applicable to this level of responsibility.
Foster and promote a continuous improvement mind set, leading and supporting where required.
Provide guidance and support with the ERP system aligning with the planning and reporting requirement.
Develop standard work procedures for the maintenance team to ensure effective service delivery.
Provide technical support for the team on how to correctly and efficiently maintain mobile equipment.
Liaise and collaborate with key users in other departments to share knowledge, align system design and agreed operating standards used within the mine site.
Develop training programs for the maintenance team including technical, safety, environmental and behavioural aspects
Promoting a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable safety standards.
Identify, participate in and promote continuous improvement processes

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
A Tertiary Qualification in an Engineering and / or Trade Certificate.
10+ years industry experience in a maintenance leadership role.
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and technical skills with maintaining mobile equipment.
Ability to lead teams to achieve set objectives.
Problem solving capability and fortitude to keep striving.
Strong contractor management.
Knowledge of working planning and scheduling, equipment availability and preventative maintenance processes.
Ability to work within a team environment.
Knowledge of JD Edwards desirable.
Experienced in the use of maintenance management systems.
English or Spanish.
Working knowledge of both is well regarded.
Disposition for detail and accuracy.
Proven success with maintaining a large fleet of equipment.
Cobre Panama is a remote site. The position is offered as Residential or FIFO.
Work hours and rosters may vary as required by the business.
