What the role is

The External Reporting Manager works in collaboration with the VP Accounting, Partnership Accounting Manager, Director of Tax and the Company’s external auditors.

This position will report directly to the VP Accounting and will assist this well-capitalized start-up company with the preparation of consolidated financial statements and investor presentations for release to external constituents.

Functions as a key liaison with external auditors regarding consolidated and statutory audits.

What you will be doing

  • Under the direction of the VP Global Accounting, will prepare monthly consolidated financial statements under IFRS for internal management review and for inclusion in investor reporting packages.
  • Working with Corporate Accounting Group in Panama City to prepare annual consolidated financial statements for inclusion in the Company’s audit report and to ensure the accuracy of reports produced from the ERP.
  • Functions as a key liaison with the Company’s external auditors during the annual audit process, preparing support and schedules for the financial statements and disclosures, responding to auditor requests for information.
  • Ensuring the Company is aware of and in compliance with all in-country statutory audit requirements and audit reports required in various partnership agreements.
  • Research new accounting pronouncements and develop white papers on technical accounting treatment under IFRS to ensure the Company’s financial statements contain all necessary disclosures.
  • Completing GAAP and MD&A disclosure checklists and binder to support consolidated financial statements.
  • Work with Director of Tax and external tax advisors on tax footnote in consolidated financial statements.
  • Will be involved in the migration from current accounting package to a large ERP solution for the global company.
  • Assisting the Vice President of Global Accounting directly on special projects that enable the continued expansion of the Company.
  • What you need for the role

    2+ years of experience with external reporting for a publicly-traded company.

    A background in audit with a large accounting firm is preferred.

    Technical accounting knowledge of IFRS.

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

    Fluent in English.

    Ability to communicate in Spanish would be desirable.

    Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

    Must have strong work ethics and be well organized and a self-starter.

    Must be able to follow standard filing procedures.

    Detail oriented, professional attitude and reliable.

    Possess strong organizational and time management skills.

    Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

    Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner.

    Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
