This position is located in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean (ROPAN), Division for Operation (DO) in Panama City, Panama.
The incumbent will work under the substantive guidance of the Programme Coordinator of the Global Programme on Cybercrime, and the supervision of the UNODC Representative in ROPAN.
The position will be operating within the Cybercrime and Anti-Money Laundering Section (CMLS), Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Branch (OCB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), at UNODC Headquarters, Vienna.

The incumbent, as Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer (Cybercrime), will carry out work assignments in relation to the implementation of counter-cybercrime technical assistance in the region and, where necessary, globally.
Within assigned authority the incumbent will perform the following specific duties :
draft parts of, or contribute to the preparation of the necessary programme, project and budget documents and reports, such as progress reports, work plans, programme budget, programme performance reports, etc.
ensuring compliance with UN financial regulations and rules, and reporting requirements.
Has knowledge of policies and practices in international crime prevention related to cyber-dependent and cyber-enabled crimes and relevant UNODC mandates.
Has knowledge of programme / project administration and implementation. Has very good research and analytical skills, including technical skills to conduct data analysis.
Is able to evaluate, identify and contribute to the solution of problems / issues. Demonstrates ability to apply good judgement in the context of assignments given.

An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, or other relevant discipline related to countering or preventing cybercrime is required.
A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of relevant qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in delivering operational law enforcement, or criminal justice work, or providing technical support in investigating, prosecuting, or sentencing and / or adjudicating online child sexual exploitation and abuse, human trafficking, or other organized crime related offenses, is required.
Work experience in project management in areas within UNODC’s mandates is desirable.
Work experience in Central America and the Caribbean is desirable.
Experience in working with civil society organizations, or the private sector in the protection of victims, is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of Spanish is desirable. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.
This is a project post. Filling of this position is subject to funding availability and the initial appointment will be for a period of one year.
Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and / or the availability of funds.
