Job description : Purpose

Purpose

The foreman on duty is responsible for directly supervising and coordinating the daily activities of the workers, both operating and maintaining the plant, to ensure that the program meets the agreed daily, weekly and monthly production and maintenance objectives.

Key responsabilities and challenges

Technicals responsabilities

  • The owner will be required to comply with all relevant legal requirements, policies, procedures and regulations related to health, safety, environment and quality.
  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment for defects or malfunctions.
  • Coordinate operations and activities within or between crews and / or shredders.
  • Conduct employee training on equipment operations or work and safety procedures.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees involved in production or maintenance, such as welders, mechanics, operators, and assistants / helpers.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other production records and reports or maintenance plans to be executed.
  • Maintain records of employee attendance and hours worked.
  • Assist the shift supervisor in ordering materials, supplies, pieces of equipment, or repair services.
  • Install and adjust machines and equipment.
  • Maintain operations data, such as time records, production and prepare management reports of production results or any other report requested by Supervision.
  • Maintains records of pre-start meetings, safety ideas and improvements, issues raised by the employee, and reports through the correct processes.
  • Carry out controls to ensure that safe, efficient and productive work practices are maintained at all times.
  • Assist the supervisor on duty in day-to-day tasks.
  • Promote and adhere to appropriate internal methodologies, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Consistently maintain a high quality of work in all assigned functions.
  • Provide informed comments / opinions, opportunities for improvement, and risk areas for management.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of improvement by actively encouraging direct reporting to engage in continuous improvement, capturing your initiatives, and providing feedback.
  • Perform any other task that is assigned.
  • Compliance / Quality Control

  • Promote and adhere to appropriate internal methodologies, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Consistently maintain a high quality of work in all assigned functions.
  • Provide informed comments / opinions, opportunities for improvement, and risk areas for management.
  • Ensure that the quality of work results is achieved in accordance with company standards and is monitored daily to ensure delivery meets expectations.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of improvement by actively encouraging employees to participate in continuous improvement.
  • Safety & environment

  • Ensure compliance with all site environmental requirements, policies and procedures to ensure work is performed safely so there are no lost time losses.
  • Make sure safe work procedures on the job or Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) are in place for those high risk tasks for equipment and employees.
  • Participate and contribute to the safe practice and environmental awareness and Social Responsibility.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to safety and social and environmental responsibility practices.
  • Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Maintain a high level of efficiency, safety and effectiveness.
  • Raise safety, environmental and social responsibility issues in meetings to ensure issues are addressed and resolved quickly

  • Promote and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Policies and Procedures through the systematic demonstration and promotion of safe work practices.

  • Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Education
  • High school diploma, twelfth grade (12) or equivalent
  • Optional : Certification in Civil Engineering.
  • A degree, desireable
  • Skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Great ability to work in a "team" environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain self-discipline in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience
  • At least four (4) years of experience in Mining or Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
  • Language
  • Fluency in Spanish is required and a command of English would be an added value. A

    willingness to undertake desirable language training.
