To contribute to daily planning and coordination of WFP logistics operations, including monitoring of services provided by contracted external organizations, to ensure cost-effective operations and that set objectives are achieved in full.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Depending on your experience level and expertise areas, you will be involved to a greater or lesser degree in work related, but not limited, to the following :
Management of service providers / vendors, port, fleet, and warehouse operations to promote safe, efficient planning and execution of WFP operations.
Management of supply chain operations, in compliance with the established supply chain strategies, policies, procedures and controls, and following corporate standards, with emphasis on quality control, loss prevention, risk mitigation, and cost-effectiveness.
Building and maintenance of positive relationships mostly at the operational level and collaboration with counterparts in the key supply chain functions, contributing to an integrated supply chain approach to food assistance and cross-functional operational alignment.
Application of appropriate processes, procedures, and policies that support the efficient and effective procurement services.
Analyses including financial, reports, and budget reviews in support of decision-making on supply chain activities.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Logistics and Supply Chain, or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and / or trainings / courses.
Years of relevant professional experience :
Junior Consultancy : One to three years of relevant professional experience.
Level I Consultancy : Three to five years of relevant professional experience.
Level II Consultancy : Six to ten years of relevant professional experience.
Fluency (level C) in English language.
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language : Spanish or French are highly desirable.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
Professional experience is desired (but not required) in one or several of the following areas :
Commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors.
Monitoring and reporting on transport and freight market conditions and trends.
Dealing with shipments and clearing imports / exports with customs officials.
Coordinating procurement and transportation processes with other units / teams.
Warehouse and commodity management.
Working with corporate systems (databases, software).
Humanitarian assistance and / or development work of the United Nations, or other international governmental or non-governmental organisations.
