This position is responsible for the overall management of the MCAC s SBU’s commodity positions including 1) fuel procurement strategy and execution for coal generation facilities, 2) hydro / reservoir bidding strategy, 3) Energy strategy and execution.
Directly or indirectly oversees contract administration, transaction negotiation, portfolio management.
Based on the understanding of the various MCAC SBU countries’ power regulation and the companies’ market outlook, the Term Management Director will contribute to our new investment opportunities (greenfield and M&A) in power generation by providing and evaluating commercial strategies for these investments.
You will build and utilize an international network amongst Energy Managers across the business to share commercial strategies.

Primary Job Functions
Directs trading and non-retail marketing of multiple commodities
Indirectly directs implementation of daily generation operations and commodity procurement strategies
Supports the development and execution of the Company’s power generation and renewable energy strategies by providing leadership and insight into the various potential hedges, developing physical or financial counterparties, and leading contract execution.
Develop markets and counterparties for electricity swaps, options, swaptions, and physical futures in order to optimize our contracted positions within the Company’s risk tolerances.
Four (4) year college degree required in economics, accounting, mathematics, finance, engineering or finance
Advanced degree preferred in business, finance, or economics
some experience in Investment Banking or Commodity Trading Hedge fund (ex. Noble, Vitol) preferred
At least 3 years leading teams of financial or physical commodities traders
Understanding of power markets and commercial models used to financially forecast; ability to interpret the impacts of load, weather, prices, basis, shape, and system reliability on the output of said models
Ability to effectively communicate to senior leadership and others (e.g., C-level Executives, Risk, Operations, BD, and Regulatory)
History of working in illiquid physical or financial markets
Physical / Financial Option Expert
Fluent English and Spanish and, and some experience working in Latin America is preferred
Location could be Panama or Mexico City
