Digital Chief Scrum Master

Job Purpose

The Digital Chief Scrum Master leads the agile practice across the Digital team to ensure that the defined principles & guidelines are followed across the organization.

It is responsible for efficiency and quality in product development.

Works closely with existing regional, local, and 3rd party partners to ensure the correct use of agile practices and methodologies are in place and in use.

We are looking for a leader with a proven track record in organizing multiple cells (in local, regional, or 3rd party teams) and multiple scrum masters leveraging SAFe agile framework.

Efficient rollout on our markets and time to market are core responsibilities for the role. Scrum Master will coach all teams in our operations about agile practices, identifying and eliminating impediments, and facilitating rollout.

Core Responsibilities

  • Rollout and integration aimed at improving current products or developing new ones to satisfy consumer demand and substantially contribute to Tigo’s revenues and profitability.
  • On-time delivery of Digital projects according to strategic roadmap.
  • Prioritize portfolio of new products or features to ensure strategic alignment and budget accomplishment.
  • Clearly establishes product milestones (or sprints) and objectives by detailing functionality at consumer and technical level.
  • Communication with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitates team meetings, including Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective.
  • Facilitates team progress toward goals. Scrum Master is trained as a team facilitator and is continuously engaged in challenging teams to improve performance in terms of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity.
  • Scrum Master helps Product Manager in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope.
  • Eliminates impediments beyond the team authority or those blockers which require further escalation or support from other teams.
  • The Scrum Master supports the team in addressing and eliminating these issues to improve the likelihood of achieving the objectives.

  • Focuses on ever-improving team dynamics and performance. Helps the team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
  • Escalates people problems to management where necessary.

  • Work closely with our Software Factories (in sprints) to guarantee product implementation and time to market.
  • Collect, organize and structure all additional information required to support the Statement of Work.
  • Key Interfaces

  • Liaises with Product Managers and Architects to ensure project scope and schedule are aligned with strategic roadmap.
  • Works with external partners and suppliers to ensure all development requirements are met for the new developments on time and on budget
  • Ensures that all commercial agreements with external parties are properly documented and tracked according to Tigo’s standards.
  • Keeps management informed of project status through periodic status reporting and project updates
  • Periodically communicates with Tigo OpCos to align business and budget requirements
  • Qualifications

    Proven experience implementing Safe methodology (or similar) from scratch in a medium-large enterprise.

  • 5+ years in product or project development or engineering.
  • Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) required.
  • Understanding and appreciation for the role of a centralized PMO responsible for project portfolio, budget and demand management.
  • A born product development native with substantial knowledge on product definition, development, and life cycle management.
  • In-depth knowledge of product delivery methodologies, including Agile.
  • Experience managing contract, procurement and commercial relationships with third parties.
  • MBA desirable.
  • Managerial experience in medium to large size organizations.
  • Comfortable with management of competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced user of data analytics tools including but not limited to MS Office suite, Tableau.
  • Define, implement, measure and improve SAFe Value Stream KPIs like flow distribution, velocity, time, load, efficiency and predictability.
  • Experience

  • Experience in implementation of SAFe in a medium-large organization desirable.
  • Superior people management and project management skills, but also a hands-on’ attitude to work.
  • Strong understanding of Program Management and Scrum Master practices.
  • Organized, detailed self-starter who is resourceful and able to effectively prioritize competing assignments.
  • Highly skilled in facilitating meetings and creating and delivering presentations to a variety of in-person and remote audiences.
  • Experience in implementation of SAFe in a medium-large organization desirable.
