General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

The field trainer facilitates the training in the different programs of operations and evaluates the trainees to ensure the success supplying the mine with operators that work safely and effectively at Cobre Panama.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • Vocational studies in heavy equipment or similar
  • A Formal Training Qualification.
  • Train the trainer
  • Tertiary Education completed
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mining.
  • Proven track record of success.
  • Ability to develop solutions in challenging environment.
  • A high level of competency on machinery in the required discipline.
  • Previous experience with Immersive Simulators.
  • Familiarity and competence on a range of Mining Haul Trucks / Earthmoving Equipment.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required and proficiency in English highly regarded. A willingness to undertake language training desirable.
  • Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables

  • Identify training needs and receive needs from different groups that are involved with heavy equipment.
  • Coordinate, obtain and prepare machines for conducting courses.
  • Prepare the area prior to conduct practical courses I field activities.
  • Study and analyse the operation of machinery or trucks in the field.
  • Collect, evaluate and analyse related information for the preparation of manuals.
  • Develop manuals for students and instructors and coordinate the printing of manuals and diplomas.
  • Comply with established times for training.
  • Practice or conduct courses with peers to receive feedback.
  • Prepare and deliver / teach courses.
  • Evaluate and qualify participants.
  • Attend concerns during and after classes.
  • Generate reports of courses conducted and submit to the immediate supervisor.
  • Where feasible, assist in ensuring availability in languages that are required.
  • Process and analyse reactive and proactive indicators in order to identify relevant training gaps seeking continuous improvement.
  • Participate or conduct audits, gap analysis, scheduled inspections and no programs to ensure the implementation of laws and regulations themselves.
  • Carry inventory and control of learning materials, equipment, tools, and related presentations.
  • Where applicable, assist in incident investigations.
  • Produces reports and statistics required in his field of activities.
  • Conducting simulator training.
  • Performing routine maintenance on the simulator(s).
  • Liaising with the manufacturer in regard to maintenance, system upgrades and trouble shooting.
  • Promote and adhere to appropriate internal methodologies, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Consistently maintain a high quality of work across all allocated functions.
  • Provide input / informed commentary, improvement opportunities and areas of risk to management.
  • Ensure the quality of work output is achieved against company standards and monitored daily to ensure delivery meets expectations.
  • Actively contribute an improvement culture by actively encouraging employees to participate in continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that all recording processes relating to simulator training are followed.
  • Ensure that records of all simulator training are completed accurately, signed by the said individuals and filed in the appropriate training file.

    Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered as FIFO.
