Job description : Purpose


Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of all the reefers, HVAC’s and comfort air-conditioning systems on site.

This role is responsible in assisting technically and troubleshooting in all the system working on site, giving support to the supervision and technicians level.

Will develop and maintain maintenance strategies for keeping the equipment operating under design parameters.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Perform all duties assigned in a safe and professional manner. Assume a lead role in ensuring the safety of all plant personnel, Contractors and equipment by adhering to plant safety program and good maintenance practices both in letter and in spirit.
  • Direct responsibility for ensuring the safety of all maintenance department personnel and Contractors under his supervision.

  • Perform or request to be performed Inspection routines to monitor equipment Conditions. Received requests from internal Customers in case of systems malfunction.
  • This applies for all HVAC systems in Camps Areas. This could apply to other equipment as required in the future.

  • Follow Services Contracted Agreements for work to be performed by Contractors. Assure Services are delivered with the specified Quality, meeting Company requirements.
  • Organize and call Contractors in case of emergency.

  • Develop and implement cross-training and professional development courses to increase flexibility and expertise of maintenance department personnel when required
  • Plan, schedule, and lead the execution of all routine and emergency work to be performed on equipment under his responsibility.

  • Assist with planning and coordination of all maintenance activities during plant planned outages and overhauls for equipment under his responsibility.
  • Responsible for ensuring all work performed is documented per corporate requirements and analysed for ongoing trends that could affect plant availability and performance and costs.
  • Understand and apply the concepts of preventive maintenance.
  • Responsible for development of routine maintenance instructions and work packages for all plant equipment under his responsibility.
  • Responsible for ordering of all tools, equipment, parts and material inventory necessary for normal maintenance activity levels for all plant equipment under his responsibility.
  • Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
  • Implement FQM Way culture in the Control Room team - "Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together."
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Education
  • University Degree into Electrical / Mechanical Engineer or technical studies in refrigeration.
  • Good understanding of industry best practices relating to installation and maintenance of HVAC, Ventilation.

  • Desirable Intermediate / Advance Computer Software Knowledge : Excel, SharePoint, Power Bi
  • Demonstrate field working experience
  • Experience
  • 5 years of experience as Service Engineer is a plus or 10 years of experience as HVAC technician
  • Previous extended tours of work in man camp / remote access locations.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word Power Bi and Excel, scheduling, inventory control, and work planning programs of some type highly regarded.
  • Language
  • Fluency in Spanish is required and proficiency in English highly regarded. A willingness to undertake language training desirable.

    Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered as Residential working in day and night shift
