Fortinet seeks a Consulting Security Engineer with focus on Public Cloud and in support of sales, marketing and development efforts in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

A CSE is a Senior Engineer, part of an elite team, who acts as an architect and advisor to the field engineering and accounts teams.

The CSE engages in large impact deals across a range of industries by providing expert advice on the design, architecture and implementation of solutions that best meet the specific customer needs.

The CSE works alongside with peer field engineers, account teams, and channel partners that may be involved, throughout the sales process.

The CSE is expected to shape the positive outcome of customer engagements such as presentations, meetings, demonstrations and proof of concept (POC) activities.

This role offers high visibility to senior management, networking across corporate teams as well as the opportunity to shape the business and the direction of our future products.

Responsibilities :

  • Support sales activities in Latin America and the Caribbean as a strategic and high-level regional technical resource for strategic pre-sales engagements and key opportunities.
  • Conduct technical meetings with customers and resellers to highlight our products and solutions.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support to Fortinet Sales representatives, Fortinet resellers and distributors, in order to positively influence sales within Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Assist Fortinet Sales representatives to perform technical design of security solutions for customers. Recommend the best technical solution for a given scenario, in order to provide quality products and services to Fortinet’s customers
  • Provide limited assistance on post-sales support cases, when customer relevance or project importance demands so.
  • Work closely with Product Management and Engineering to help identify, qualify, and develop features critical to Fortinet’s success.
  • Support educational efforts (both in-classroom and remote via Webinars) targeted to keep a high degree of knowledge on Fortinet solutions on the partner, reseller and distributor base.
  • Participate and be part of the feedback process to Research and Development, on information that flows from customer and partners, regarding potential improvements in Fortinet’s product line
  • Work with Fortinet’s marketing teams to help understand specific market needs in order to drive the appropriate activities that can impact positively market’s perception towards Fortinet.
  • Create technical documents that can help the partner base to perform better / quicker / demonstration demos to effectively show Fortinet’s products strengths.
  • Create / Modify / Translate competitive documentation that can show in a convincing way why Fortinet has a superior technology and product portfolio versus competitors, highlighting benefits to the customer
  • Create / Modify / translate presentations as needed to effectively deliver Fortinet’s message to any type of audience
  • Give proper follow-up to VIP projects and promptly report any advances or potential issues, so the sales counterpart can be aware and proactively work on the next step.
  • Be part of the internal engineering communities (Tech Teams, Mailing lists) and assist others within or outside the region, in order to make Fortinet more successful as a company
  • Be part of a distributed team of people that shares workload and assignments. Strong sense of teamwork is required.
  • Take internal training as needed (including self-training modules) in order to keep product knowledge at the best possible, and be an expert resource for resellers, partners, distributors and other peers.
  • Be a spokesperson, appropriately representing the company at public conferences, media and partner / Fortinet driven events.
  • Travel within Latin America and the Caribbean on short notice.
  • Comply with activity reports and ensure timely communication with CSE Manager / CSE Director.
  • Experience and Skill Requirements :

  • Minimum 10 years technical experience in networking / computing
  • Five years or more of proven experience in a consulting and / or pre-sales role, designing, installing and / or operating solutions on at least two of the most popular Public Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google or Oracle).
  • Strong Knowledge on AWS and Azure public cloud architectures. Knowledge on Google and Oracle desirable.
  • Strong security skills including understanding of information security technologies (firewalls, IDS / IPS, antivirus, VPN, etc.
  • and associated protocols and standards. Proven hands-on experience with products from top security vendors.

  • Competitive and security industry knowledge. Understanding of top market players, their products, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Solid understanding of networking technologies and protocols, and proven hands-on experience with leading networking products and solutions.
  • Proven experience with traffic generators and test tools like Fortitester, Ixia and Spirent a plus.
  • Skill with programming / scripting languages like python, html, bash, TCL and Power CLI highly desired.
  • DevOps / SecOps experience will be considered a plus.
  • Outstanding consultative skills. Ability to interpret the specific customer environment and security needs, and articulate the best technical solution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills. Capable of delivering product and technology presentations to technical and business audiences.
  • Outstanding project management and documentation skills. Ability to design and follow work plans for complex activities, and by following good documentation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively, to add value as a team member, and collaborate with a variety of teams such as engineering, sales, product management and customer support.
  • Ability to mentor other sales engineers and take a leadership role.
  • Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Fortinet and Public Cloud certifications highly desirable.
  • English and Spanish required, Portuguese a plus.
