With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-
held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.
We are currently searching for experienced people to join our Cobre Panama operation.
The Drive Specialist has the following key responsibilities :
Key area : Help to set up maintenance functions at plant’s electrical section
Helps hiring and training electrical team to achieve world class mine operation.
Provides feedback to set and maintain adequate spare and wear part levels.
Helps on creating maintenance tasks for medium and low voltage VSDs.
Helps on creating maintenance tasks for cycloconverters.
Assists with the creation of material numbers and stock items.
Ensures that maintenance plans are well communicated and implemented.
Provides assistance creating SOPs
At commissioning phase participates verifying that installations fulfil design criteria, installation and performance specifications.
Key area : Execute electrical maintenance plans to meet established availability targets
Works with superintendents and supervisors (Planning, Engineering & Plant) to ensure that process plant equipment operates according to production plans (and that all machinery / equipment is maintained according to supplier recommendation and industry best practices).
Ensures that all area of responsibility’s preventive and predictive maintenance plans are in accordance with the operation needs, and that activities are planned and scheduled via Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Provides input to shutdown planning in coordination with Planner(s) so that plant availability is maximized and contractor resources are optimized.
Systematically develops methods, materials, tools and parts so downtime is minimal.
Provides technical support to mechanical maintenance personnel, as required, to maximize production, efficiencies and optimize costs.
Key area : Collaborate with Engineering and Management (E&M) team and related functions to optimize efficiencies
Evaluates plant performance to identify and identify and implement opportunities.
Participate continuous improvement initiatives
Manage small size improvement projects
Key area : Provide leadership to the team
Manages a team responsible for medium and low voltage VSDs.
Participates in the interviewing, hiring, training and development in an effort to retain and develop the best talent for the organization.
Provides clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business plans and production goals.
Manages performance by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching.
Works with line management to identify training opportunities that provide depth and versatility for all new and advancing maintenance employees.
Provide input to training and development needs, develop plans and establish performance metrics to meet those needs, and provide ongoing assessment tools to ensure desired results are being achieved.
Promotes a positive employee environment ensuring a continuation of the solid working relationship with all employees.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, or similar branch of Engineering or Associate’s degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, or similar branch and 5 years of relevant practical experience.
Junta Técnica de Ingeniería y Arquitectura (JTIA) registration or equivalent national registration.
5 years in electrification including at least 2 years’ relevant experience in the high and / or medium voltage environment after graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years of professional practical experience after graduation with an Associate’s Degree.
2 years of medium and low voltage variable speed drives practical experience (including inverter and / or cycloconverter technology).
Solid understanding of industrial power systems
Good people skills
