General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
As a key member of the Projects team the QAQC Coatings Specialist will report directly to the QAQC Coordinator / Quality and Commissioning Manager.
Work closely with project stake holders to assure, maintain, and document all aspects of quality management. Develop and Implement changes when necessary to improve and maintain quality.
Drives quality and continuous improvement throughout the company.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
Engineering degree, trade qualification or appropriate QAQC qualifications
Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of recognized and good engineering practices, regulations, codes and standards
Knowledge of root cause failure analysis techniques, inspection techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
A minimum of 5 years Coating Inspection experience in Painting & Blasting.
NACE 3 Coatings preferred (Would consider NACE 2)
Proven Knowledge of the inspection requirements in the following will be highly regardedRubber liningTiledInternal coatings for service pipes : rubber, polyurethane, tilePickling for stainless surfacesGalvanized surfacesCoating for concreteDomain of non-destructive and destructive tests.
Experience with measurement equipment (sparktest, DFT, profile, environmental conditions, ultrasound, BARCOL, Ph, soluble salts, among others.
Mastery of the standards used in the preparation and application of coatingsAbility to evaluate existing coatings
Fluency in Spanish is required with a preference to have advanced level of English language comprehension both written and oral.
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
Provide technical advice and assistance to the team on all quality related activities
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the area of operation.
Coordinate with all Projects Departments to ensure all Quality inspections are completed and documented in line with company standards and procedures
Identify, log and follow through to closure Noncompliance issues in project design, supply or installation.
Coordinate with all stake holders to ensure all Non-Compliance items are closed.
Responsible for the Development of site-specific Quality documentation to ensure all project equipment and installation works meet the project specifications
Lead investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions for all logged non-conformances issues
Maintain QMS documentation and data control including control and management of Statutory Plant register and documents.
Assure all test results and verifications are within specification and report deviations.
Perform Quality inspections and checks as per as per the approved method statements and inspection test plans.
Witness Quality controls, inspections and checks and ensure all plant and installation within his area of responsibility is in compliance with the project quality plan.
Carry out Audits in line with the Projects Quality Plan.
