What's the role :

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Mobile VAS and Support Platforms network to include participation and support of Incident, problem management & fix, lead the proactive and reactive Tier 2 level Support, KPI monitoring and analysis, proactive fault management and security management for systems of responsibility.

Ensure the delivery of exceptional service, reduce downtime, reduce revenue loss, improved NPS and customer experience in the VAS environment.

What you'll do :

  • Support the Engineering team in the development and enhancement of all the applicable VAS platforms namely Mobile Voicemail services, SMSC, SMSCGW ,Tele messaging Services, eSIM, USSD, USSDGW, RBT, CBC, Mobile Device and SIM Homologation, SIM OTA, Device Manager system, Equipment Identity Register (EIR) and all Element Management systems across the LLA region.
  • Monitor the regional VAS platforms and analyze KPIs in order to evaluate system utilization, performance and adequacy and fix issues or engage the responsible stakeholders for resolution.
  • Provide Tier II technical support to the Customer Services and Technical Operations arms of the business in order to achieve and surpass fault resolutions targets as per Service Level Agreements and enhance customer experience.
  • Develop and Implement performance enhancement methods and procedures and support system expansions and augmentations in order to maintain a high standard of system reliability and keep pace with business growth.
  • Participate in the definition and enforcement of VAS technical standards and practices, including all appropriate Standards regulation.

  • Critically assess system software and hardware upgrades and enhancements recommended by suppliers and Engineering team, ensuring minimal effects on service delivery while adhering to agreed Service Level Agreements.
  • Prepare technical reports and analysis to include usage trend, system performance and other ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Support the Value-Added Services Manager in preparation and management of OPEX and CAPEX budgets throughout each financial year.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of system and solutions in place for Mobile VAS and Support Platforms.
  • Support the change process by coordination of all operational changes with appropriate teams to ensure uninterrupted service or minimal service and revenue Impact.
  • Drive proactive fault management utilizing monitoring, mapping and alerting software to proactively collect data and conduct real-time analysis of the performance of the platforms and customer devices (e.
  • g. mobile phones / SIM) mitigating business impacting events.

  • Maintain currency of documentation for the various Mobile VAS and Support Platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external technology partners to prioritize, estimate and complete projects in support of business.
  • SIM / device operational readiness by homologation of same to support the Engineering and product team

  • Maintain currency of systems security updates to mitigate any attack or service and revenue impact
  • Manage access control to various systems such that access to systems is control based on function / role
  • Conduct training of new member to the team such that business continuity is maintained and knowledge is enhanced
  • Plan and executed planned activities in scheduled maintenance window according to change management policy
  • Liaise with and support vendors to ensure full system functionality and escalate where necessary.
  • Manage spares such that there is no service impact and escalate any associated risk
  • Ability to travel where necessary to other OpCos to support system restorations as a Subject Matter Expert in case of disasters / critical service or revenue impacting issue.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information as it relates to sensitive system data in the VAS environment.
  • Knowledge and Experience :

  • Ideally, a University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent qualifications.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years working experience, in the maintenance of mobile telecommunications equipment, of which two (2) years should be working in a Mobile Switching Technology environment to include Mobile Voice & Data Switching components and / or Mobile Value Added Services environment.
  • Knowledge of traditional, emerging and converged Telecommunications Technology Systems such as PSTN Voice, Mobile Voice, VoIP, Optical & Microwave Systems, IP & Data Value Added Services, IT Service Delivery systems.
  • Knowledge of UNIX / LINUX variants, Oracle / SQL familiarity with Servers in a cluster Environment, TCP / IP, SIGTRAN and HP / Sun / Dell hardware.
