Job description : Purpose
The Port, Power Plant and Copper Concentrate Diver II will report to the Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor, will perform all duties assigned in a safe and professional manner.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the Power Plant.
Equipment operators manoeuvre vehicles and other machinery around Cobre Panama Port, Power Plant and Copper Concentrate areas.
Operators could also be asked to work at other Cobre Panama Areas.
Essentially, equipment operators use construction vehicles such as Coaster busses, Pickups, all-terrain forklifts, Bobcat, flatbed trucks, backhoes and other Mobile equipment found at site.
Basic Equipment operators are responsible for transportation of Employees, transportation of materials and equipment around site.
Equipment operators must work outdoors on location in all weather conditions and on all terrain, usually from the early morning hours until late afternoon.
Depending on the jobs, they may be expected to work evenings, weekends or swing shifts. The work is arduous and requires workers to be alert at all times.
Basic Equipment operators inspect the vehicles to ensure safety. They are also expected to repair or assist in the repair and maintenance of the mobile equipment.
Basic Equipment operators function as part of plant emergency response team within limitations of training received.
Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
High school as minimum.
Driver licences (Class D or higher).
Mobile Equipment Operation certifications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
All equipment operators should possess acute visual perception abilities to accurately judge distances.
Additionally, they should have a mechanical aptitude along with a background in auto mechanics to understand the fundamental principles involved in operating the machinery.
With the addition of the global positioning system (GPS) technology, workers may need to demonstrate some proficiency with computers.
Equipment operators will also need a basic understanding of electronics in order to operate many of the newer vehicles designed with electronic controls.
They will be required to receive Mobile Equipment Certification.
One to Three years or more satisfactory experience working as a Mobile Equipment Operator in a heavy industry facility.
Fluency in Spanish is required and proficiency in English highly regarded. A willingness to undertake language training desirable.
