Capital Blue Cross has an exciting opportunity for a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Culture Director to join our award winning organization.

This position will work closely with executives, leaders, managers, employees and external groups to create initiatives and deliver programs designed to foster a culture of belonging, inclusion and engagement at all levels of the Capital Blue Cross enterprise.

This position reports to the SVP, Human Resources and will be a critical member of the HR Leadership Team. This position requires a builder’ and a transformative and influential leader with a proven track record of making diversity and an inclusive culture a differentiator.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Deliver the DE&I strategy by developing and implementing the short and long-term inclusion and diversity roadmap that positively affects the culture and employee experience.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and programs.
  • Serve as a leader, advisor, advocate and catalyst for change, focused on instilling DEI into enterprise talent and business program activities.
  • Work closely with the SVP, HR to lead the DE&I Governance structure, including the DE&I Steering Committee, DE&I Council and DE&I Champions.
  • Design & implement metrics, monitoring & reporting systems to effectively benchmark organizational progress in DE&I.
  • Develop tracking strategies to monitor and evaluate the impact and ROI of initiatives; develop reports on program effectiveness and make recommendations for program enhancement and improvement.
  • Develop & implement best practices for DE&I action planning and ensure business accountability for follow up.
  • Charter, launch, and scale employee resource groups (ERGs) and mentoring programs.
  • Serve as an advisor to our business leaders to embed DE&I in our health equity initiatives, community outreach and ESG initiatives / programs.
  • Work collaboratively with other DE&I professionals in the industry to build positive working relationships that can help inform our internal and external business practices.
  • Manage a DE&I intranet site, maintaining and refreshing content regularly with support from the Communications team.
  • Serve as a an DE&I subject matter expert supporting leaders in responding to employee inquires on the topics, submitting award nominations narratives and preparing business leaders for external keynotes on the subject.
  • Skills and Experience :

  • Proven track record of driving and implementing innovative D&I initiatives and programs that result in tangible outcomes.
  • Ability to provide guidance and influence executives and senior leaders.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical skills : ability to define necessary metrics and interpret data to tell a story.
  • Excellent project management, collaboration, consultative, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience developing and delivering persuasive presentations to all levels of the organization and external networks.
  • Experience developing and delivering training on DEI and culture topics.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing complex projects while moving at a fast pace.
  • Seen as a team player’ with a consultative style and ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy in interactions with all levels of the organization in a matrixed team environment.
  • Capable of moving from strategy to hands on execution working productively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years’ experience in progressive roles in diversity and inclusion and / or organizational effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated success in building and implementing comprehensive organization-wide D&I strategies in complex organizations with proven results.
  • Preferred :

  • An advanced degree and / or relevant HR / DE&I certifications
