The Asset Category Management team is responsible for all global and strategic CAPEX and OPEX spend categories across APM Terminals, including but not limited to Equipment, Automation, Civil, Energy & Decarbonization, Asset Lifecycle Management and Alliance Management.
This position is required to work closely with APMT’s global technical functions and 70+ business units globally. This position is responsible to utilize external civil consultants and contractors in support of APM Terminals’ growth objectives through a systematic and disciplined category management approach.
This role will manage as part of a team an annual Civil CAPEX spend of up to 1 billion USD across global greenfield and brownfield projects.
This position reports to the Head of Civil Category Management.
As the Category Manager, you will own the strategic relationship with civil suppliers, consultants, and internal stakeholders while building collaboration within and across organizational boundaries.
You will develop and execute sourcing strategies, projects, and tenders, meeting business growth and civil project objectives while minimizing risk.
Develop and execute procurement project and contracting strategies; lead / execute the tender process for all global civil projects above 5m USD, including but not limited to the appointment of Design Consultants, Project Management Consultants, Environmental Consultants, Soil Investigations, and Civil Construction Contractors.
Program manages multiple complex civil tenders with possible interdependencies on other functional areas.
Formulate, drive and execute long-term civil category strategies in close cooperation with the global Engineering and global and local procurement and technical teams.
Responsible for managing relationships with technical stakeholders internally and externally.
Negotiate and manage commercial agreements and contracts.
Develop cost models, identify saving opportunities / TCO improvements and implement appropriate measures in coordination with key suppliers.
Provide in-depth technical and commercial sparring and advice to stakeholders, impacting the functional direction of the strategy.
Champion implementation of internal risk management / mitigation controls to ensure compliance with corporate policies and statutory rules, regulations, and laws
Actively managing capital sourcing including risk management to ensure the delivery of the right product / service, at the right cost, at the right time while maintaining overall project timelines
Minimum 5 years of work experience, (civil) technical degree, and work experience within Civil Category / procurement is preferred.
Extensive experience with FIDIC contracts and negotiations
Project Management : Experience in developing and executing international / multi-country and cross-functional strategies and programs that impact a broad range of senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Experience with strategy development and implementation is preferred
Knowledge of CAPEX structures for medium to large civil programs / projects; as well as know-how on the execution of such projects and the different technologies used.
Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
Proven ability to handle ambiguity, ensure cross-functional and cross-company alignment, resolve conflicts, work collaboratively with internal and partner contacts and influence cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders
Ability to understand and adapt technical requirements into procurement processes and related streamlining
Excellent English language communication skills both verbal and written
