Job description : Purpose
Reporting to the Blast Supervisor, the blast attendant area is tasked to assist in the blast operation to achieve operational and production goals in a safe manner and in compliance with relevant procedures.
The is a hand-on position with a focus on an immediate to shift basis.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
The role assists in the operation and general tasks associated with drilling and blasting activities.
Strictly comply with HSE procedures and standards in particular a high standard of housekeeping.
Propose and develop continuous improvement activities to deliver improved performance.
Assist blast foreman with blast loading activities including loading blast holes, stemming and tying in shot patterns under the direction of blast foreman
Assist with maintaining accurate records of drill hole, blast pattern and ground conditions, stemming lengths and hole conditions.
Ensuring adequate signage is in place to isolate area, warnings are given and assist in inspecting area after blast
Provide support and communications to the Supervisor and Operators in the optimisation of operations of blast operations.
Undertake nominated training activities to maintain and up-skill required competencies.
Execute duties with the focus to reduce operational costs.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the drill supervisor and / or blast supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Completion of Secondary school.
Strong drive and personal sense of ownership and accountability.
Be able to understand and use digital devices such as tablets and outdoors computers.
Physical attributes and fitness to handle physical work in hot, dry, dusty conditions.
Good written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Aptitude to trouble shoot and problem solve.
Ability to undertake the manual duties of the role.
Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Experience in a heavy industry, mining and / or process plant environment highly regarded.
Fluency in Spanish is required.
Diligent and thorough in approach.
Cobre Panama is a remote site. The position is offered as Residential BIBO.
