Job description : Purpose
Purpose
To ensure the organization complies with current health and safety legislation approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to health and safety as well as work proactively with other managers to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the organisation.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
To be the Responsible Safety Leader in the area
Maintain register of progress against audit
Support area with contractor managementIncluding but not limited to Pre-tender auditsArrival Inspections, Induction & SMS ComplianceExecution of periodic audits
Take responsibility for administration of all construction department safety incidents, specifically My Compliance.
Provide Department monthly feedback on incident closure
Support local team with correct incident protocolProtect the incident sceneTimely reportingICAM
Support area with implementation of the Department SMS
Provide feedback to Safety Superintendent regarding SMS implementationRisk RegisterRA / SOP
Follow up local team with implementation of SHE Rep committee
To ensure day-to-day safety issues are addressed and brought to the attention of the Safety Superintendent in a timely manner.
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Assist in implementation of Safety and Health Standards in line with Corporate strategy and annual business plans.
Support the organizational culture of FQM (Bolder, Driven, Smarter, Together) and actively promote it’s translation in terms of safety related activity
Support Department Managers to established company health, safety policies and procedures and ensure they are upheld
Conduct informal safety inspections in all areas within the scope of the Department.
Help to conduct Planned task Observations in conjunction with the local leadership.
Scheduling regular meetings leadership and staff.
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Education Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or equivalent.Skilled knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and application in a mining environment and construction phase.
Extensive knowledge of effective health and safety management strategies and best practicesRegistered with IDONEDADAccredit certificate through an international recognized institution
Skills Good leadership, presentation and motivational skills.Good negotiating skills.Excellent knowledge, understanding and application of industry best practice Health and Safety strategies for large-scale and construction.
Excellent cognitive and analytical skills with understanding of Health and Safety process improvement and incident control strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to assemble data and provide clear and accurate reports in both an upward and downward direction.
Excellent project management and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a multicultural environment.Strong computers skills especially MS Office. Experience
Minimum of 4 years safety experience within the Construction / Processing industry.
Knowledge of OH&S systems, minimum OSHSAS 18001 and preferably OSHSAS 45001 system
Experience in safety investigations and auditing
Must have valid Panamanian driving licence.
Must be computer literate
Language
Fluency in Spanish
English highly regarded.
