Job description : Purpose


As a key member of the Engineering team and reporting into the Electrical Superintendent, the Trainer Coordinator manages the instrumentation, electrical and mechanical trainers for the process plant Engineering team.

The Trainer Coordinator will be responsible for the creation of adequate training paths, working in consultation with Engineering Superintendents, subject matter experts and the Human Resources department to ensure effective development of the engineering workforce, in technical, and maintenance administration.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the process plant control room.
  • Carry out formal workplace inspections on a routine basis.
  • Ensure employees work in compliance with H&S (e.g. isolation, lock out and tag out), quality and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Assist in creating and implementing SOP’s.
  • Coordinate and develop training paths for process plant engineering staff to meet the main KPI of a skilled workforce across all trades, personnel, and supervisors..
  • Manage the engagement and liaison with original equipment manufacturers to ensure the required level of expertise is achieved by maintenance staff for effective maintenance and monitoring of equipment.
  • Evaluate and provide performance feedback to the trainers.
  • Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
  • Implement FQM Way culture in the Control Room team - "Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together."
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by her superiors.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Education
  • A Tertiary Qualification in Engineering.
  • Graduate studies in administration preferable
  • Skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Six Sigma training, preferred at black belt level
  • Experience
  • Experience in mining or hevy industry environments
  • Experience directing and guiding less experienced personnel
  • Proven training management record.
  • Language
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required

  • Working Conditions

    Cobre Panama is a remote site. The position is offered as Residential or FIFO with a strong preference for the incumbent to be residential.
