What the role is

The Accounting Manager works in collaboration with the VP Accounting, Partnership Accounting Manager, External Reporting Manager, Director of Tax and Internal Auditor.

This position will report directly to the VP Global Accounting and will assist this well-capitalized start-up company with technical accounting, partnership accounting, investor presentations and other special projects as it continues its global expansion.

What you will be doing

  • At the request of the Partnership Accounting Manager (PAM) and VP Accounting, preparing balance sheet account reconciliations for debt, equity, and other complex accounts.
  • Researching and preparing white papers on complex accounting treatment of acquisitions, divestitures, spin-offs.
  • Exposure to the annual external audit, and implementation of the new Oracle Net Suite ERP and implementation of the Company’s new loyalty program.
  • Exposure to the Intercompany accounting process for 150 legal entities.
  • Liaising with the Legal Department and Tax Department to ensure new entities are properly structured and capitalized and that intercompany loans and equity capitalizations are recorded accurately in the Company’s books and records.
  • Reading, understanding and advising on investor agreements including share subscription agreements, mezzanine debt, warrants, and stock option plan.
  • Working with HR on the accounting for grants, forfeitures and expense regarding the Company’s stock option plan.
  • Liaising with Corporate Office in Panama (in Spanish) regarding the proper recording of financial transactions.
  • Assisting with the preparation, as needed, of financial documents and presentation materials to be provided to investors in the Company at required periodic intervals.
  • Assisting the Vice President Global Accounting directly on special projects that enable the continued expansion of the Company.
  • What you need for the role

  • 2+ years of experience with advanced accounting gained either at a public accounting firm or in a corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Fluent in English and Spanish would be a preference.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Must have strong work ethics and be well organized and a self-starter
  • Must be able to follow standard filing procedures
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high- volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
