Role and Responsibilities

The Power Plant QA / QC Inspector will report to the Power Plant QA / QC Superintendent

The above Lead duties and responsibilities will include the following :

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the area of operation.
  • Carry out inspections and check for all quality related procedures on site and ensure activity at the site are as per approved method statement and inspection test plans.
  • Coordinate with the consultant’s / contactors representatives on Site in-charge for inspections and meetings about quality problems including the closure of Non-
  • Compliance Reports during construction.

  • Coordinate with the In-house project team for inspection and meetings about quality problems including the closure of Non-
  • Compliance Reports after construction.

  • Develop method statements and ITP s for the activity including risk assessment and job safety environmental analysis and Inspection Test Plans and Checklists based on specifications of the project.
  • Lead investigations of Internal, Customer, and Supplier non-conformances to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Maintain QMS documentation and data control including control and management of Statutory Plant register and documents.
  • Train employees on continuous improvement processes and QMS training.
  • Develop and examine statistical data and product specifications to determine appropriate standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy for the plant.
  • Troubleshoot and solve situations resulting from material and / or mechanical problems.
  • Provide documentation assistance for all internal, external audits including insurance audits.
  • Schedule QC Department activities for working on a variety of projects.
  • Assure all test results and verifications are within specification and report deviations.
  • Manage lifting of all equipment and handle efficient storage of all hazardous materials and perform quality audits as per required schedule.
  • Perform functional checks and mechanical completion checks for nominated equipment (Especially equipment requiring statutory inspections) i.
  • e. Pressure and atmospheric vessels, boilers, lifting equipment, etc.

  • Witness the tests, controls and inspections, guarantee inspection status control for parts of the plant within his area of responsibility, authorizing their acceptance at quality control completion, obtain the relevant documentation and ensure the correct implementation of the approved Inspection Test Plan.
  • Verify special processes and the relevant workers’ qualifications.
  • Carry out Internal Audit at the site as scheduled in the Project Quality Plan, PQP.

  • Qualifications and Education Requirements


  • Knowledge of recognized and generally accepted good engineering practice regulations and codes industry standards for , risk based inspection principles, and in-
  • service methods and techniques.

  • Knowledge of root cause failure analysis techniques, inspection techniques (x-ray, NDT, etc.), corrosion, cathodic protection, etc.
  • Certified Welding inspector by a recognized institute (Must Have).
  • Certifications or thorough knowledge of related industry codes & standards such as API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspection), API 570 (Piping Inspection), and API 653 (Above Ground Storage Tank Inspection).
  • Experience in Corrosion Protection methods with a proven track record.
  • Skills

  • Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in process plant maintenance and construction industries including a proactive attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-
  • workers, and environmentally responsible operations.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with mechanical integrity programs and in-service inspection of operating facilities.
  • Exposure to a complex mining environment highly regarded.
  • Language

  • English Basic English communication skills.
  • Experience working within multi-cultural environments a definite plus.
