Job Summary : Administration of blood products, intravenous and medication therapies, and administers chemotherapy / immunotherapy intravenous medications and performs treatments according to established policies and standards.
Performs therapeutic phlebotomy and other diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures. Acquires familiarity of various chemotherapeutic / immunotherapy agents, their actions, indications for use in specific disease entitles, adverse reactions, methods of administration and expected therapeutic results.
Formulates hospital policies relevant to administration of chemotherapy, and provides phlebotomy services as needed.
Minimum Requirements : 2 years recent RN experience on acute care unit or in an acute care facility. Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing or Diploma Program.
Must have current license or temporary practice permit to practice as Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
ACLS required within six (6) months of transfer / hire. ONS Chemotherapy / Biotherapy course certificate of completion before end of orientation and maintained.
OCN certification required within three (3) years of transfer / hire.
Preferred : Two (2) years critical care experience preferred. Oncology and / or radiation experience preferred. Radiation Therapy experience which includes external beam preferred Brachytherapy preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred
Licensure and Certifications : RN. ACLS required within six (6) months of transfer / hire OCN chemotherapy / biotherapy course certificate of completion before end of orientation.
OCN certification required within 3 years of transfer / hire.
