Job Description

The Entertainment and Broadband Sr Director is responsible to bring relevant, high quality and innovative products to Liberty Latin America customers.

This is focused on managing an existing portfolio of products and innovating with new products to drive Liberty’s growth agenda.

The role must bring customers relevant and innovative products across three planning time horizons : Near-term, medium-term, and long-term, delivering high-quality products at an optimized cost.

The role will work in a highly matrixed organization across both local market commercial teams and the Technology and Innovation teams.

Connectivity WoWFi Internet and HubTV and Flow Sports sit at the heart of Liberty Latin America, and the Sr. Director of Entertainment and Broadband will play a key role in delivering a superior internet and home product to customers.

LLA’s Internet products focus on delivering fast and most reliable service to our customers to drive mass-market adoption with self-service in mind.

This business leader will primarily be responsible for supporting the development of new Connectivity and Entertainment products from strategy to go-to-market, as well as supporting the management of the overall Entertainment and Connectivity portfolio.

In this role, this individual will work cross-functionally to develop winning customer propositions and then help partner with a diverse array of stakeholders to bring these industry-defining products to life.

Among other duties, this individual will help execute customer research, strategic business cases, technology assessments, pricing & packaging evaluations, and more.

These products are in Liberty’s DNA, so this role will have great exposure and visibility. Excellent opportunity for a well-rounded, collaborative problem-solver wanting to work on future and growth-oriented product innovations.

This individual will report to the Vice President of Product Strategy / Development and Transformation.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Set Entertainment & Connectivity Products strategy that scales across Liberty’s markets and customer segments
  • Deliver on Entertainment and Connectivity Portfolio Strategies by developing and managing customer-centric products
  • Develop & manage innovation portfolio through new business development, partnerships, product planning, management & development
  • Lead product development process across design, UI / industrial design, business case, content development, launch support, customer needs analysis, metrics & reporting
  • Support defining of customer value propositions by synthesizing customer needs with internal capabilities
  • Develop robust business cases to guide the direction and prioritization of the roadmap
  • Analyze the financial and customer impact of the products within the larger scope of the company’s revenue and cost targets
  • Translate the assumptions of the business case into requirements to guide R&D in product design
  • Collaborate with leadership in product development, business operations, marketing, sales, and across the company to achieve our mission and strategy
  • Strategically evaluate current product portfolio and roadmap, assess new opportunities, evolve our product strategy, and guide both short and long-term business planning
  • Partner with business development teams on partnership opportunities to fill in hardware, software or go-to-market gaps
  • Ensure E2E LLA Product Quality
  • Manage Product Roadmap for the portfolio of both Entertainment (Linear and OTT Video) and Broadband (Fiber-to-the-home, HFC, Fixed Wireless Access, Mobility, and DSL)
  • Support Budget & Long-Range Plan process including OPEX / CAPEX definition, Roadmap planning & analysis
  • Deliver product research & design, Competitive Intelligence, and report on product performance KPIs & innovation KPIs
  • Monitor the broader market, while leveraging competitive insights to guide strategy development
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Preferred education / qualifications :

  • Graduate-level (bachelor or higher) degree in an Engineering and / or Marketing related field. Significant technical-centric job experience (15 yrs.
  • plus) can be in lieu of a technical degree.

  • Background in strategy consulting, product management, business development, finance, or corporate strategy
  • MBA is a plus
  • English and Spanish preferred
  • Self-starter with ability to quickly grasp complex subject matter
  • Knowledge & Experience :

  • Requires extensive proven experience (10-15 years) of performing an executive-level function within an international media environment.
  • Control & manage multimillion dollar OPEX & CAPEX budgets.
  • Extensive proven experience in project management techniques including planning, resource allocation, prioritization, and escalation within an international telecom environment.
  • Demonstrate strong influencing and persuading skills, encourage colleagues and teams to change established processes and achieve improvements and best practice
  • Demonstrated experience developing large scale, complex business cases
  • Ability to derive strategic insights in the face of complex and often incomplete information
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, while prioritizing tasks efficiently
  • Deep interest and understanding of consumer tech products and product lines
  • Experience planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skills & Abilities :

  • Extensive proven track record showing the ability to successfully deliver multimillion-dollar complex programs in an environment
  • Manage vendor relationships that reduce costs, improve service and support strategic goals
  • Strong resource management, financial management, and budget management skills
  • Strong record of people management in a technical environment, including communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Leading remote teams in multiple countries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to form strong business relationships across all functions
  • Solid business planning experience, demonstrating a track record of success as a business leader, and have the ability to collaborate with various departments to achieve mutual success.
