As a Technical Superintendent you will be part of a highly engaged international team with ambitious business targets.
The candidate will be responsible for planning and carrying out the dry dockings for the Terminal Towage vessels in America's Region, a unique opportunity for a pro-
active and organized individual to exercise technical ability across different countries (Canada, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico among others) and to build a culture of technical and safety excellence.
The position reports to the Managing Director of the Terminal Towage Cluster.
The Technical Superintendent will be responsible for planning and carrying out Dry Dockings as efficient as possible to the right quality and cost;
ensuring maximum availability of our vessels.
Manage dry dockings from start to end, organizing its resources in the most effective way and working together with key stakeholders.
Inspect and assess vessels due for docking.
Prepare bidding specifications for repairs.
Assess docking bids and recommendations.
Supervise the work of the shipyard, shipyard sub-contractors, owner’s sub-contractors, vessel’s crew and other attending staff.
Report daily progress and financial with negative and positive occurrences.
Complete docking report according to global standards.
Deliver post-docking lessons-learned conference and resulting analysis.
When needed, respond to major casualties or repairs.
Promote and assist in the enforcement of the Company HSE and Quality policy.
We are looking for
Svitzer is seeking an individual that is self-motivated with solid organizational skills, that has experience working under pressure and with tight deadlines.
10 years of experience in marine engineering including but not limited to vessel design, operation, management and repair.
Operational experience on towing vessels of not less than 3000 KW.
Experience as Chief Engineer preferred.
Project Management skills.
Excellent oral and written English.
Formal training in the use of computer software (Microsoft office, Microsoft project).
Detailed knowledge in the operation and repair of marine equipment and systems.
Knowledge of the applicable classification and flag state requirements and specific experience with ship repair and repair management.
Incumbent should be capable of managing subordinates of widely varying educational and motivational backgrounds.
Availability to travel more than 50%.
