General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
The Civil Engineer is responsible for completing all regular reporting tasks required to monitor the progress of Contractors.
Plan, supervise and support all road maintenance activities, and all activities required by the Roads Department under the supervision and guidance of the Superintendent.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
Qualified Civil Engineer.
2+ years of operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
Extensive Knowledge of the processes involved in road construction and maintenance.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Strong leadership, management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other programs utilized for training tracking purposes.
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Operate within and observe the relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Plan and organise all Contractor activities in a timely manner.
Supervise excavation and earthworks processes.
Inform QAQC in a timely manner of the stages at which quality control sampling should be carried out to ensure quality during the construction and maintenance phase of the road.
Prepare technical reports describing the results and progress of daily activities.
Identify and help implement improvements to road construction and maintenance processes and techniques to optimise project objectives and targets and report on the results.
Ensure that personnel, equipment and work areas comply with all safety policies and standards by providing the necessary training, tools and supervision.
Develop and promote a positive employee relations environment within the operations team and across all shifts.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Complete shift and production reports in an efficient and timely manner.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Highway Superintendent.

The Cobre Panama Project is located 120 kilometers west of Panama City and will be required to live in onsite company accommodations during normal assigned work schedule.
The Project operates to a set of safety, environmental and community relation standards that define expected performance for our operating site.
Maintaining high standards for the operation and measuring our performance against those standards is an integral part of our current business practice and our long term goals.
Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
