General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

Reporting into the Supervisor Projects, the Foreman Projects is responsible for the fabrication, installation, construction, safe operation and maintenance of equipment and machinery in the general process plant area of a world class operating plant.

The work will be executed through tradesmen from different disciplines.

Education

  • A related Mechanical or Piping Trade Certificate.
  • Skills

  • Good leadership, motivational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings of various plant to ensure correct tolerance and fits are maintained for efficient plant operation.
  • Proven ability to identify, analyse and understand equipment problems.
  • Good understanding of technical, production and maintenance strategies for, continuous operating mineral processing plants.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Provide supervision to field teams during shutdowns
  • Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction or maintenance operations in heavy industry.
  • Minimum 1 years of leadership / supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a large, complex base metals processing plant highly regarded.
  • Language

  • Fluency in Spanish is required with English language competency optional.
  • Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables

    Key Accountabilities and Challenges

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Ensure employees work in compliance with H&S (e.g. isolation, lock out and tag out), quality and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Participate in creating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and actively participate in HSE initiatives.
  • Provide input to shutdown planning in coordination with Planner(s) so that plant availability is maximized and contractor resources is minimized.
  • Systematically develop methods, materials, tools and parts so downtime is minimal.

  • Supervise the carry out the installation, refurbishment and commissioning of mechanical plant to specification and on time.
  • Check all Isometric drawings and GA Piping / field installations
  • Motivate workers to attain the project schedules
  • Knowledge of welding pipes using TIG and electrodes is essential to ensure welded joints comply with relevant specifications
  • Monitor progress and distribution of daily tasks, necessary tools and materials needed, with particular emphasis on compliance with specific safety rules and quality standards
  • Responsible for acquiring and arranging transport of all necessary equipment and materials to complete the job
  • Coach and mentor subordinate staff through skills transfer.
  • Promote a positive employee environment ensuring a continuation of a solid working relationship with all employees.

  • Act as deputy for colleagues as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor Projects
