General Role Purpose
Reporting into the Manager Legal and Commercial Projects this position advises on legal matters relating to all business areas.
transactional matters, operational, environment and approvals, mining and property, industrial relations, procurement and compliance.
Manage judiciary and administrative proceedings, as well.
Qualifications and Experience
A Tertiary qualification in Law, with a Master’s Degree in law or business-related filed
Minimum 5+ years post qualification practicing law.
Master’s Degree in law or business related filed
Mining or heavy industry commercial law experience required.

Provide clear, commercially aware legal advice and support on operational, HSE, and employment matters across the company, under the supervision of the Manager legal, including, but not limited to, drafting and negotiating operational agreements, advising on applicable regulatory requirements, and reviewing reports and submissions to regulators.
Adhere to and promote the company’s policies and procedures and report non-compliance to the Legal Manager.
Provide advice to and support the management team and business units in mitigating legal related risks.
Counsels colleagues and develops appropriate relationships for the legal department with other departments across the business as well as externally with state authorities and government officials.
Provides significant input in the development and implementation of legal compliance policies and procedures.
Identifies legal issues within the business and provides legal analyses and possible legal solutions.
Support the Legal Manager with engaging, instructing and building effective and successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Liaising with the operations and project teams on contracting strategies and negotiations.
Overseeing the Company’s compliance management system.
Assign, supervise, and review the activities of legal staff.
Perform other related duties as required.

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based off-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site.
