Job description :

General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

Perform inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance activities of the Tactical equipment fleet, which includes Light vehicules, excavators, articulated trucks, large cranes, using correctly the tools and facilities provided, with full knowledge and respecting the policies of Loss Prevention and Environment.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • A qualification from Universidad Tecnológica de Panama in mechanical engineer or related fields.
  • JTA Certification as a Mechanic Technician or Engineer.
  • Obtain level III in mechanic evaluations
  • Driving license
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Mechanical of mobile equipments or related area.
  • Experience in maintenance management systems
  • JD Edwards knowledge or similar
  • Knowledge and technical skills in maintenance, repair and diagnosis of Tactical equipment for the mining industry, such as large capacity cranes, articulated dump trucks (ADT), excavators, crawler tractors, front end loaders, service trucks, forklifts, Light vehicules and similar equipment.
  • Knowledge and technical skills in mechanical and electrical inspection activities.
  • Knowledge and technical skills in evaluation and fault diagnosis of engine and power train systems of mobile equipment.
  • Knowledge and technical skills in evaluation and fault diagnosis of hydraulic and electrical systems, reading and interpretation of blueprints and diagrams.
  • Knowledge and skills in the processes of component replacement and equipment assembly.
  • Knowledge and skill in the handling of technological tools and diagnostic instruments.
  • Knowledge and skill in tire maintenance.
  • Knowledge in information management systems (ERP) and work order generation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required and proficiency in English highly regarded. A willingness to undertake language training desirable.
  • Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables Operate within and observe all releLight vehiculet and applicable laws of Panama.

    Carry out formal workplace inspections on a routine basis. Execute daily corrective actions as directed. Ensure housekeeping is executed in all designated work areas.

    Provide input for the creation and implementing SOP's. Follow releLight vehiculet SOPs for work conducted. Carry out scheduled planned installation and maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company procedures in order to minimize project delays.

    Inspect, repair, install and test mechanical equipment in order to ensure that releLight vehiculet specifications / requirements are met.

    Carry out an assessment of spares and materials required to complete work effectively, where necessary ordering additional items via the Foreman / Supervisor.

    Undertake nominated training activities to maintain and up-skill required competencies. Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.

    Ability to read and interpret service manuals, parts manuals, oil analysis reports. Ability and knowledge to prepare technical maintenance reports.

    Perform and lead preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs of Tactical equipment. Perform inspection of equipment in order to identify conditions that may impact the proper functioning of the equipment.

    Perform the evaluation, diagnosis, and calibrations of equipment to identify and monitor operating conditions. Perform the change of major and minor components of the equipment.

    Comply with prevention and environmental care procedures. Comply with established procedures for the execution of maintenance activities.

    Generate, complete and close work orders with correct and timely information. Prepare technical reports and failure analysis.

    Maintain and properly use the tools and facilities provided. Identify and implement improvements in maintenance processes.

    Prepare technical reports with objective and releLight vehiculet information to make decisions. Maintain the order and cleanliness of the workshop.

    Know and comply with the Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Internal work regulations. Code of ethics and conduct.

    Loss prevention manual. The responsibilities described above are the main responsibilities of the position. The position also develops other activities that are not included in this document and the immediate supervisor is in charge of transmitting them.

    Operate within and observe all releLight vehiculet and applicable laws of Panama. Perform any other duties as assigned by Maintenance Foreman / Supervisor.

    Operational Requirements

    Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based onsite and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site.

    Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.

    Environmental Responsibilities Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.

    Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
