Employees in this role assist in the development and execution of plans for new and enhanced renewable projects. This job coordinates allocation of resources, schedules, and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner.
This position participates in all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.
The Project Development Manager will interface with numerous subject matter experts (SMEs), including but not limited to engineering & construction, environmental, commercial legal, real estate legal, tax, and accounting.
Travel for this role will fluctuate, while a Project Manager is expected to travel 40% of the time, dependent on the requirements of the project needs. Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Business or Engineering, Master’s Degree or MBA is a plus
10 years of project management experience in power generation development, equivalent business and / or economic development fields.
Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.
Strong knowledge of project financial models, understanding of the time-value of money and fundamental finance theory.
Good communication skills in English and Spanish. Job Duties & Responsibilities
Identifies development prospects projects, including market assessments, economic and social analysis of the country.
Coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering / design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations.
Aligns projects with long-term company strategy and initiatives.
Takes an active role in all aspects of the project, from project conceptualization, work planning, project design and project execution.
Leads development activities in early, mid, and / or late stages of the project.
Secures site control for development prospects, including negotiating leases, easements and other agreements with landowners.
Takes a lead role in obtaining certain local, state and / or federal permits.
Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements.
Oversees all aspects of project permitting to include wildlife, environmental, site layout, and land use permitting for utility scale renewable energy projects but may include other permitting and compliance disciplines as well as due diligence reviews for the development and sale of projects.
Leads and facilitates the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result.
Supports due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects.
Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting and permitting.
Assists in the construction of contractual arrangements for project development.
Participates in negotiating agreements with consultants and subcontractors.
Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community.
Assist project budgeting and scheduling.
Manages tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating internal and external technical support.
