General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
To lead a team of Contracts and Category Management professionals in ensuring the operation’s supply needs strategically match with the market.
Engage with the team to track and monitor performance targets of optimal cost of ownership and surety of supply.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Commercial related tertiary qualification (Law, Business, Ethics, and Compliance or equivalent
10 years of experience in developing, and implementing Sourcing and Contract management requirements.
Commercial : Commercially astute, with a strong comprehension of contract terms, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams.
Technical : Expert / Professional that has guided developed and influenced practice in the Supply / Contracts / Category Management area with a minimum experience of between 5 and 7 years.
Requires detailed knowledge of principles and concepts in own functional area and limited knowledge of other functions.
Leadership : Team leadership role that managed 1 - 10 individual contributors for between 2 and 4 years. Made a strategic contribution by using the team and the advice of functional staff to envision all possible practices and systems that might be used for delivery and selecting those that are within budget and appropriate for local conditions.
Experience in decision-making that directly impacted his / her sub-function.
Operational : Managed projects. Had responsibility for budgets at a work team level.
Analytical : Advanced Data Analytics in order to make the most informed and most advantageous decisions for the business.
Stakeholder Engagement : Negotiated with multiple groups of internal and external stakeholders on middle management.
PMAC / SCMP / CIPS certification preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Ability to function and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Knowledge of any ERP system and JDE Oracle will be an advantage.
Knowledge of the Americas Mining supplies space will be an advantage.
Knowledge of SAP Ariba Platform will be an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Office application.
Proficiency in English and Spanish highly regarded
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Facilitates effective implementation of Source to Contracts and Category Management methodology within company objectives and requirements.
Contribute towards an effective sourcing strategy through cross-functional data analysis ensuring supply effectiveness and competitiveness.
Ensure that all activities relating to sourcing and contracting events for the categories are planned, scheduled, resourced and executed in a timely and visible manner.
Maintain cost effectiveness of supply and minimize risk; track and monitor budget spend
Supervise development and application of guidelines for supplier selection and qualification; Lead negotiation effort with suppliers and create opportunities for effective relationships while pressing for cost effectiveness and reliable delivery.
Determine supplier qualification and performance in order to identify and minimize risks and maintain quality of delivery and material;
engage and develop suppliers through supplier recognition programs and development plans.
Lead, coach, and mentor team members with deep category, business and industry knowledge to ensure delivery against performance targets
Oversee and manage work planning, execution, resource balancing and team performance
Work with internal and external stakeholders to carefully obtain the requirements needed for each contract.
Collaborate on and assist with the management of practical, organization-wide contract management process.
Communicate and manage contracts workflow
Create and maintain a variety of reporting tools for system governance and compliance.
Create and maintain contract KPI reporting systems admin and governance reporting tool.
Develop procedures and establish contract management rhythms and routines in accordance with value, risk, and strategic factors.
Resolves issues regarding contractual performance, including claims, changes, and terminations.
Coordinates submission and negotiation of contract proposals, including change orders.
Developing template agreements and associated playbook.
Perform other related duties as required.

Operational Requirements
Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at the Cobre Panama site.
Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
