Job Description

The IT Database Administration Manager provides Database support for crucial business applications across Liberty Latin Americas LLA Markets.

He / she will drive Database operational initiatives to reduce cost of IT operations, while increasing Database availability and improving quality, and NPS.

He / she will act based on predefined service level targets and functions as a level of escalation between the local OpCo’s, central teams and managed service providers.

  • Graduate level (Bachelors or higher) degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of training and experience required.
  • Exadata Certification preferred.
  • Database Certification s preferred Oracle, MSSQL, MYSQL, SAP, Oracle RDB .
  • Minimum 10 years of IT and business / industry experience including 7 years of technical leadership managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
  • English and Spanish preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of current and proficient Exadata Administration experience using Exadata recognized standard tools and utilities
  • Minimum 5 years of current and proficient Oracle RDBMS, MSSQL, MYSQL and Oracle RDP Database Administration experience using recognized standard tools and utilities.
  • Proficient in Database High Availability Oracle / MSSQL RAC and Backups and Failover Oracle and MSSQL / MYSQL Standby / Oracle Data-guard models.

    POSTGRES, SAP and Maria DBA experience a plus.

  • Proficient in Database Development using Oracle recognized standard tools and utilities
  • Windows shell scripting / Linux Scripting preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Database General Information Technology Controls GITC .
  • Extensive experience in managing infrastructure and operations.
  • Experience selecting and managing outsourced IT services to meet SLAs and qualitative standards. Manage vendor relationships that reduce costs, improve service and support strategic goals.
  • Strong record of people management in a technical environment, including communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Has operated in a matrix organization successfully
  • Extensive proven experience of project management techniques including planning, resource allocation, prioritization and escalation within an international telecom environment.

  • Provide day-to-day 24x7 support across IT as 2nd & 3rd level support for IT Database Administration
  • Create, maintain, and administer databases with LLAs ecosystem. Ensure the databases are highly secure, available, and recoverable.
  • Proactively monitor and tune the databases for maximum performance. Install, configure, and patch database software and complete database migrations and upgrades.

    Troubleshoot and solve database and application problems.

  • Develops effective and productive working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of excellent customer service across all functions.
  • Accountable for overseeing operational service reviews to receive feedback on the LLA Database team performance that can be used to generate enhanced working practices and improved inter-working relationships.
  • Works collaboratively with IT vendors to ensure the managed service providers are delivering against all contractual and commercial agreements, seeking service credits where service falls below the agreed standard.
  • Ensure continual development of processes, procedures and systems to meet evolving product and service management requirements.
  • Ensure the LLA Database team processes, procedures and working practices comply with chosen regulatory standards, company policies and best practice (e.
  • g. ITIL, Lean) methodologies.

  • Work closely with problem managers / service managers to ensure follow up RCA’s
  • Drive Operational initiatives within the LLA Database Team.
  • Work with Compliance / Sox team to adhere to DB General Information Technology Controls GITC .
