General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Supervise and support our infrastructure team consisting of buildings maintenance, fire monitoring and suppression systems & surface preparation.
Determine, plan, and prioritize the C&M work / activities that need to be done to ensuring that the necessary resources are identified, made available and brought to bear in a timely manner.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
7+ years working on mine / industrial sites.
7 + years working on surface preparation, coating and structural preservation.
7 + years working buildings maintenance.
7 + years working on fire monitoring and suppression systems.
Secondary school as a minimum
Degree in Mechanical / Structural / Piping engineering
Certificate in Surface Preparation and Coating Application, buildings maintenance and fire systems would be advantageous.
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Good working knowledge of the local regulations and industry standards relating to Surface Preparation and Coating Application.
Knowledge and technical competence of the processing plant, mine, power station and Port areas
Using hand and power tools
Preparing surfaces
Blast cleaning
Treating corrosion
Applying protective coatings.
Buildings maintenance.
Fire monitoring and suppression systems.
Workplace safety and health.
Ability to work within a team environment

Driver's license

Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Execution of the C&M Work in accordance with all applicable technical specifications, safety and environmental regulations and guidelines.
Provision and periodic review and updating of all C&M plans, manuals, and systems, required to execute the Work effectively and efficiently, in accordance with industry best practices, all applicable legislation, regulations and guidelines or any other requirements which may be assigned to the Contractor.
Ensures a safe work environment for all employees and performs accident investigations as required. Performs safety process audits including work areas, housekeeping, workplace inspections, etc.
Performs task observations of employees to look for areas of improvement.
Provides daily safety talks with all employees and encourages active participation. Implements new safe work practices and procedures.
Ensure maintenance best practices are implemented and sustained for all mobile and stationary equipment
Recognize operational, technical and safety challenges, take action to prevent or overcome them, and continuously seek improvement.
Develop and maintain both short and long-term operational plans To include all aspects of activity (production planning & scheduling, maintenance planning & scheduling, equipment rebuild or replacement, capital projects, etc.).
Monitor and report progress.
Effectively work with other team members in areas such as project management, construction, health & safety to ensure cross-functional communication and delivery of goals.
Supervises hourly personnel as needed in performing their daily work assignments.
Monitors employee's performance, including; safety compliance, absenteeism and tardiness, work practices and adherence to plant and federal rules / procedures / regulations, work efficiency, job tasks and assignments, etc.
Operate within and observe all applicable laws of Panama
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in blasting and painting structural parts, equipment, interiors and exteriors of buildings and shipyard facility
Through personal standards, maintain an emphasis on safety, environmental responsibility and operational responsibility
Provide direct supervision to a team of scaffolders and surface protection personnel
Personnel monitoring, control, allocation of daily tasks and scheduling for vacation times
Identify personnel training requirements and worker skills required to complete current and future tasks
Work closely with the planning team to ensure work schedules and resources are aligned to complete the work in an efficient manner including planned shutdowns and breakdown response.
Responsible for ensuring all work is performed to the set standard of the company and compliant with all Surface Protection regulations and industry best practice standards
Participate in continuous improvement projects; identify opportunities and analysis for areas to improve infrastructure performance.
Assist with ordering and securing resources for maintenance work including liaising with suppliers
Prioritizing workflow ensuring decisions are made in the best interest of the company
Develop and maintain standard work scopes, material lists and other support documents used for maintenance activities
Promoting a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable safety standards
Provide technical support for workers on a daily basis to maximize effectiveness, efficiencies and optimize costs
Identify, participate in and promote continuous improvement processes

Liaising with peers and colleagues to enable the above.
Know and comply with the Safety and Occupational Health Regulations in Mining, Internal Work Rules, Code of Ethics and Conduct, Loss Prevention Manual

Operational Requirements
Cobre Panama is a remote Site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site.
Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
