Masters Degree is preferred

The Employee Safety Specialist leads the design, development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive employee safety program to reduce employee injury and workers compensation costs.
The Employee Safety Specialist is also responsible for developing and facilitating Safety Committees and Committee Meetings at each of the hospital and ambulatory care facilities.
Information from Safety Committees will be aggregated and reported to the Experience of Care Committee for the health system.
Position will be responsible for performing safety risk assessments for each location and identify plans of corrective action.
Position will work closely with Workers Compensation Injury Counselors, HR Business Partners, and the Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management department.
Leads program development, implementation and oversight of employee safety education and prevention programs including but not limited to needle sticks, sharp injuries, slip, trip, fall, and safe patient lifting.
Responsible for workplace violence prevention, safe ergonomics and patient handling.
Participates in the development and review of safety related organizational goals and supports health system.Leads system and care site efforts to reduce employee illnesses, injuries and related costs while increasing the focus and reporting on Good Catches
Manages risk assessments, surveys, audits and prioritizes and communicates opportunities for risk improvement.Collaborates with system and site teams to support achievement of employee safety goals
Leads the development, adoption, monitoring and reporting on metrics which demonstrate the effectiveness and need of employee safety programs.
Collects, analyzes, and reports data as required
Collaborates with site leaders to improve understanding of data and information related to the organization's performance in safety and high reliability and methods for improving performance.
Conducts, develops and educates others on event trends, root cause, apparent cause and common cause analysis.
Conducts research, development, reports, communications and trainings as requested by HR, Workers Compensation, Risk Management, Quality or Patient Safety.
Develops and refines internal communications for employee safety related information including website, dashboards, lessons learned and cause analysis.
Leads the development of communications regarding effective employee and patient safety strategies.
Supports all service locations with the management of hazardous materials and waste program; pharmacy hazardous drug management program and industrial hygiene
Familiar with Federal, State and local standards and regulations including Joint Commission, licensing, and OSHA
