Jacobs has a strong track record in helping many of the world s global cities develop visionary strategic master plans and due to continued investment within the region our Dubai operation now seeks an experienced Senior Master Planner / Urban Planner who is keen to gain exposure across the full project life cycle.

The responsibilities of this role includedemonstrating confidence, experience and keenness to learn in the followingareas of delivery :

  • Urban / Spatial Planning, developing urban and spatial planning concepts,testing of options, drafting plans and planning documents.
  • Statutory / Regulatory Planning : carrying out analysis of existingstatutory / regulatory planning processes and documents;
  • writing new statutory / regulatory planning processes and documents; environment impact and managementprocesses; preparation of development packages and management of developmentassessment processes.

  • Urban design : writing and illustrating urban design and developmentconcepts, explanation and analysis of a project s requirements to developplanning, and urban design guidelines or codes, bench marking studies forcomparable developments, development of presentations and reports to explainthe same.
  • Master planning : carrying out site visits independently in order toprepare SWOT analysis of sites / developments, development of high-
  • levelconceptual options, location and layout of masterplanning land uses, identifyingpopulation and GFA demands from master plans through benchmarking of projects,knowledge of current trends and technologies in planning and integrating inputsand outputs with the environmental, infrastructure and transportation planners.

  • Design and production of deliverables.
  • Managing outputs of support staffto prepare high quality documents that stand out from the peers.
  • Responding to adhoc client and stakeholder requests : Quick turnaroundfor short planning, urban design exercises.
  • Meeting and establishing relationships with local authorities.
  • Leadership : Leading (Project managing) design projects for both internaland external clients. Leading, taking records at progress meetings,presentations and workshops.
  • Business development : Ability to seek opportunities for further workwith clients in the region including identification of opportunities by writingtechnical and commercial proposals.
  • Qualifications

    The minimum qualifications for this position are :

    The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate thefollowing skills and knowledge.

    Relevant bachelor s degree in urban, town, or spatial planning.

    Relevant bachelor s degree in urban design, landscape architecture,or architecture, (with a focus or specialism in planning, development) AND amasters / PhD in city planning, urban design, or development from a recognizedwestern university One degree must be planning related Town Planning, UrbanPlanning, Spatial Planning, Urban Development.

    Minimum of 10 years relevant post graduate experience in urban / spatialplanning (and Urban design experience) with a planning and urban designconsultancy or a government (national, state or local) or development deliveryagency.

    Work experience across three different national planning jurisdictionsin plan making and development management is well regarded.

    Excellent Excel skills to develop land use planning scenarios and costmodeling for proposals.

    Good hand drawing skills is a bonus.

    Strong aptitude and ability to use and guide people to use software likeGIS, Sketchup, CAD, Excel, Powerpoint,Indesign, Photoshop, illustrator.

    The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience :

    Ideally you will possess sustainability qualifications including but not limited to either LEED AP or estidama PQP and will be eligible to obtain full term membership to a Society of Engineers within the UAE.
