Your Responsibilities :

This role gives YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, the main of these are leading the Latin America and Caribbean Epidemiology and Health Outcomes Program for Vaccines to align strategy and conduct projects and studies in support of overall company priorities.

Key Responsibilities : EPI / HO

EPI / HO

  • Provides leadership and strategic oversight of all epidemiologic and HE studies / projects including entire vaccine portfolio
  • Initiate epidemiology and HO projects for Latin America & Caribbean that support development and future uptake of vaccines.
  • Implement global epidemiology projects for Latin America & Caribbean, involving project management as well as some of the above processes, in cooperation with the central epidemiology team.
  • Planning and coordinating publication of regional epidemiology and HE data, in consultation with regional and central publications teams..
  • Evaluate, discuss and approve external study proposals.
  • Provide consultancy support on epidemiological issues to internal clients within GSK.
  • Assist in strengthening a strong professional network with outside collaborators of the region.
  • Presentation and communication of data internally and externally as required.
  • LEAD TEAM

  • Leads a team of Epidemiology and Health Economics Managers
  • Maintains productive team work environment and interactions of the highest standards and integrity with both internal project teams (commercial, global, clinical, local, etc) and external customers (investigators, decision makers, supranational organisations).
  • Participates in the LATAM Vaccines Medical management team meetings, and represents the region for Epi / HO at regional and global levels.
  • BUDGET & RESOURCING

  • Assumes responsibility for optimizing resource allocation within team in coordination with regional VP and regional finance manager.
  • Negotiation of funding of projects with internal and external GSK customers.
  • Identifies innovative and cost effective ways to conduct epidemiologic and HO projects.
  • SUPPORT INTERNAL PROCESSES

  • Supports internal process improvement activities and initiatives involving coordination of multidisciplinary working teams across departments (clinical, safety, commercial).
  • Ensures full compliance of all regional Epi / HO with all appropriate local medical, ethical and regulatory standards, in accordance with GSK policies.
  • PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT

  • Recruit, retain, lead and develop the LATAM Epi / HO team.
  • Develop career plans, conduct MyPlan and monthly check ins, and periodic feedback sessions with staff.
  • Encourage staff to actively engage in trainings, systems tools and processes.
  • Collaborate with regional VP to maximize allocation of human resources to projects and activities that best reflect both business and personal development needs.
  • Our Clinical R&D and Medical Affairs, Biological characterizes by developing medical strategy for Vaccines, conducting projects and studies in support of overall company priorities.

    Basic qualifications :

    We are looking for professionals with these characteristics to achieve our goals :

    MD or Ph.D. with postgraduate qualifications in Epidemiology, Health Economics / Outcomes.

    Minimum 7 years training / experience in epidemiology and / or health outcomes

    Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Spanish.

    Preferred qualifications :

    However, if you have the following, it would be a plus :

    Clinical Research in Infectious disease and / or vaccine preventable diseases

    Proven ability to understand the business of Epidemiology in the pharmaceutical industry

    Portuguese Intermediate
