General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for all the safety and operational matters of the sand cyclone plant and the interactions with all other teams on the TMF and the Process Plant.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor Degree on Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Chemist or similar, or.
Technical Degree on Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or similar with two years of satisfactory experience as a Cobre Panama process DCS Operation Specialist, Process Engineer; or
5 years or more of satisfactory experience as a process DCS Operation Specialist as an equivalent for the education level.
Three years or more of proven experience as a Shift Supervisor in similar cyclone plant operations and familiarity with digital control systems required and two (2) years or more hands on experience as a sand cyclone plant Control Room Unit Operator.
Excellent understanding of the operational requirements for a large plant process particularly in regards to safety, reliability, and dispatched operation.
Certifications in Training and Safety highly preferred.
Familiarity with digital control systems required.
Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, scheduling, and work planning programs of some type.
Fluency in Spanish is required and proficiency in English highly regarded.
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Develop and update standard safe working procedures and actively participate in HSE initiatives. Ensure health and safety procedures are stablished and development for all activities under his / her supervision.
Identify, eliminate, mitigate and / or control any safety abnormal condition.
Support and assist in planning, scheduling, coordination and execution of the operations roles during planned outage and project implementation activities.
Comply the area safety KPI s.
Lead role in supporting root cause evaluations on any safety, environmental or operational event providing direction on investigations on complex or unanticipated issues
Support cross-training and professional development courses for operating department personnel to with goal of increasing understanding and cooperation between departments.
If necessary, provide coverage for Coordinator on a short-term basis.
Use industry best practices for Lock Out / Tag Out and Permit to Work safe procedures ensuring that proper safety practices are followed.
Build 'team' environment within the shift team of operations personnel.
Conduct regular performance feedback with team members to promote areas for improvement and follow up.
Track and report continuous improvement activities to deliver improved operational performance.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Supervise the operation of the first stage and second stage cyclones, water supply pumps, and underflow delivery system to achieve sand production availability and quality targets.
Understand, communicate and meet sand production targets.
Ensure delivery of underflow sands to construction areas in compliance with engineering and scheduling specifications.
Ensure reliable operations of the seepage collection and sand collection facilities systems and management of alarms.
Perform the operational movements of overflow and whole tailings around the south, east and north embankments, including the valves stations operation.

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site.
Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
