Title of project : Manage and maintain the regional asylum capacity online platform
Purpose of project : Managing the online platform to ensure maintenance and backup information

General Background of Project or Assignment :
Last year, the Americas and the Caribbean received more asylum applications than any other region. The deteriorating situation in Venezuela and increased violence and insecurity in parts of Central America, as well as in Colombia, has led to a significant rise in the number of new refugee claims.
Currently, the Americas hosts an estimated 2 million asylum-seekers. A number of States have developed good practices and useful tools that should be shared with other interested States especially during the pandemic.
In order to help States share good practices and exchange important information, UNHCR is developing and funding an online platform that will contain updated information on tools, lessons learned and good practices implemented by governments in the Americas responding to the different emergencies in the region and in the context of the pandemic.
The online platform will host information that is relevant to the region, such as tools, processes, statistical data, jurisprudence and good practices concerning International Refugee Law, Refugee Status Determination (RSD), Country of Origin Information (COI), access to asylum, quality of asylum, local integration and durable solutions, and other themes related with the situation of Persons of Concern to UNHCR (PoCs) in the Americas.
It will enable cooperation among States, who will be the main contributors to the platform, and improve national asylum capacities.
It will also serve as an efficient information and management tool that will help States to be more aware of developments and trends in the region and avoid duplication of national and regional processes.
Finally, it will give visibility to national and regional initiatives through factual information and will contribute to governments public policies on asylum.
Overall purpose and Scope of Assignment :
For a period of three months, the consultant will be responsible for managing the online platform mainly :
Qualification and Experience of the Individual Consultant (degree required, years of experience, field of expertise, language required) :

The consultant will manage and update the online platform depending on the amount of information shared by the governments through UNHCR.
The consultant will communicate on a regular basis with the Americas Bureau to provide updates and discuss any technical issues.
The Bureau will prepare the methodology to compile the information and a schedule for information uploading to ensure information is updated on a regular manner.
