Position Summary, Help Desk Specialist
The person who fills the Help Desk Specialist position will have superb customer service skills and a basic
understanding of web applications; be confident and comfortable interacting with coworkers, customers, and
U.S. Navy personnel; have excellent communication skills; and be well versed with the Microsoft Office suite of
tools, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The Help Desk Specialist will join a small, agile team that
provides on-site Tier 1 support to web application end users and also provides a variety of programmatic and
administrative support to our Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division customers. The ability to
multi-task and work in a quick-paced environment is a must as plans change frequently as we help our
customers meet their mission. This position requires a Department of Defense Secret security clearance, which
requires U.S. citizenship.
Highlights of Responsibilities :
Interact with end users and provide Tier 1 support.
Create and manage Help Desk Tickets.
Create and maintain database entries (data entry).
Properly respond to system issues and deploy Help Desk Tickets appropriately.
Provide support to track ticket statuses and status reports.
Write and edit support documentation such as operating procedures and meeting minutes.
Prepare or collect documentation prior to team or system deployment.
Confident with Microsoft Office products (can navigate a variety of functions).
Ability to create accurate documentation, reports, metrics, and briefings.
Ability to respond to requests that require quick turn-around.
Desired Qualifications :
Experience providing support to the Department of the Navy.
Experience with data entry.
Administrative and customer service experience.
Required Education, Experience, and Certifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Communications, or related.
Limited travel, less than 5% is expected in this position.
Tools and Technology :
Most work will be conducted on a computer provided by Innovative Professional Solutions (IPS).
Various web-based tools will be used.
Microsoft Office products are used daily.
Working Conditions / Environment :
Work will be conducted at an Innovative Professional Solutions, Inc. office as well as NSWC PCD or other locations.
