Job description : Purpose
Guarantee compliance with all reforestation commitments acquired by the company. As a Reforestation Engineer this position will be in charge of certifying the reforestation projects under way by the Reforestation team throughout Panama.
The Reforestation Engineer will coordinate all the ESIA, legal and regulatory requirements to obtain the Certification from Mi Ambiente on the hectares planted through the reforestation Program.
Identifies and interprets applicable environmental regulations.
Performs inspections and test to verify compliance
Identifies existing and potential environmental problems.
Participate in developing corrective measures.
Develops procedures to assure continuing compliance with regulations and organization standards.
Contributes to governmental reports and may interface with external agencies.
Maintain knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the organization s operation
May review work of others.
Coordinate research that meets the reforestation needs of the company through external companies.
Prepare all documents required for the reforestation certification process with MiAmbiente.
Ensure the implementation and execution of the reforestation management plans in order to comply with the commitments of the area.
Provide technical support to the company when required.
Represent the company on forestry issues before local stakeholders when required.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor Degree in Forest Engineering, Biology or Natural Resources.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to assess and prioritise tasks.
Computer fluency essential with emphasis on MS Office programs.
Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
Knowledge about reforestation in tropical forest.
Intermediate knowledge in Office, Project, database and geographic information systems.
National legislation on reforestation
Minimum 7 years of experience in field work on afforestation with an emphasis on reforestation.
Experience in planning and implementation of forestry projects.
Technical and scientific writing.
Requires a driver's license.
Exposure to a complex mining environment highly regarded.
Fluency in English and Spanish required.
