We are looking for Data Engineer at the Power Plant to join in our operation team at Cobre Panama

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to Port & Power Plant site Manager the Data Engineer is tasked with managing, organizing and reporting on all Power Plant, Port and CuCon Filtration data, while also keeping an eye out for trends or inconsistencies that will impact business goals.

The data engineer needs to understand how to optimize data retrieval and how to develop dashboards, reports and other visualizations for stakeholders.

Data engineers are responsible for analyzing and communicating data trends.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize and improve existing data architectures within the Power Plant, Port and CuCon Filtration areas.
  • Develop business intelligence by integrating and analyzing data sources from OSIsoft PI, MPA, RT Duet, eLOG, Vista, JDE, My Compliance using Excel, Hubble and PowerBI.
  • Gather and distribute key financial and KPI data as required for month end reporting purposes.
  • Optimize and monitor data capturing processes across the various business units.
  • Complete the Vista model for analyzing long terms coal quality impacts on the power plant.
  • Implement RT Duet software suit for the Power Plant and CuCon Filtration areas.
  • Perform production loss accounting and present findings as waterfall graphs to the management team on a monthly basis.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities by analyzing major financial data using JDE and Hubble.
  • Support the continuous improvement engineer by identifying opportunities for future improvement.
  • Work closely with the project engineer to evaluate the benefit or value of proposed projects.
  • Work with the reliability engineering group to automate condition monitoring and capturing root cause analysis data in RT Duet.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in long term planning by assessing process data trends.
  • Measure and report the effectiveness of the ERP work managements system through data analysis.
  • Identify ways to improve the reliability, efficiency and quality of data sets.
  • Deploy sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning and statistical methods.
  • Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience building and optimizing big data’ pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable big data’ data stores.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Visual Basic, OSIsoft PI, MPA, RT Duet, Vista, JDE, Hubble and PowerBI.
