At Caterpillar, the Workday Cross Functional Architect helps define our Workday roadmap by consulting with Workday functional teams and HR stakeholders to understand how technology can support the people needs and priorities of our business.
The Cross Functional Architect is also responsible for the review and approval of solution designs and implementation plans to ensure Workday enhancements align with our business imperatives, roadmap, design principles, and internal controls.
This role is the critical link between our Workday Functional Area Architects (Core, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, and Learning) ensuring the identification and assessment of cross-workstream impacts and is responsible for working with functional teams to ensure high-quality releases of new or enhanced Workday functionality.
The Workday Cross Functional Architect must be able to lead and influence in a global, matrixed organization, drive execution and effectively manage a diverse group of internal stakeholders.
The Cross Functional Architect also provides values-based leadership to a team of cross-functional analysts that manage our Workday People Experience, release sprints, regression testing, internal reporting and compliance, and cross-functional projects, and lead our Workday Governance Team.
Primary responsibilities of the Workday Cross Functional Architect include :
Develop talent and ensure team engagement and effectiveness.
Ensure solutions and business decisions are aligned with enterprise and functional strategies.
Clearly articulate the business value of the team’s outputs.
Serve as a primary subject matter expert for Workday to optimize system design and configuration understanding and interpreting end user needs to translate into system requirements.
Oversee the creation of documentation used for end user adoption and training and managing the People Experience functionality designed to maximize the user experience.
Work with functional architects, design and prototype solutions, present options, lead design workshops as needed.
Organize project plans and manage project deadlines, testing activities, and contacts with other team members to stay on schedule and execute implementations and upgrades.
Support development and management of the Workday roadmap, including maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across HR and the business.
Research and resolve Workday problems, unexpected results, or process flaws, perform selected scheduled activities and recommend solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.
Keep current on Workday system trends and process best practices.
Maintain visibility on Workday Community and local User Groups to keep abreast of new features, product defects, and advocate for desired enhancements.
