General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Carry out the preventive and corrective maintenance activities, evaluation and diagnosis of the Tactical equipment fleet, which includes, trucks, excavators, articulated trucks, mobile cranes and lifting equipment to guarantee the safe, reliable and timely operation of the equipment to meet the objectives of availability and costs with full knowledge and respecting Safety and Environment policies.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
A Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering and / or related Trade Certificate.
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Leadership, skill to motivate and mentor work crew members to achieve results.
Knowledge and technical skills in maintenance, repair and diagnosis of Tactical Equipment to mining industry, such as large cranes, articulated dump trucks, excavators, dozer, wheel loaders, service trucks, forklifts, light vehicle, generators, air compressors.
Knowledge and technical skills in troubleshooting of engine and power train system.
Knowledge and technical skills in troubleshooting of hydraulic and electrical systems, reading and interpretation of schematic diagram.
Knowledge and skills in the use technology tools for diagnosis and troubleshooting of the equipment.
Knowledge in maintenance management tires and welding.
Knowledge of working planning and scheduling, equipment availability and preventative maintenance processes
Skill to understand and analyse maintenance performance indicators (KPIs).
Knowledge in management of information systems (ERP).
Ability to work in teams and conflict management
Specialist Technician or higher Education Level (Tertiary) is required
10+ years previous experience in maintenance of tactical fleet for mining industry.
Significant experience maintaining a wide range of mobile equipment
Knowledge of JD Edwards preferred, other enterprise systems considered if very strong in other areas.
English and Spanish highly regarded.
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Through personal leadership and setting clear expectations maintain an emphasis on safety, environmental and operational responsibility
Develop standard safe work procedures and actively participate in HSE initiatives.
Identify, eliminate, mitigate and / or control any unsafety condition.
Ensures all works are in compliance with company procedures.
Lead a team of technicians when required to consistently deliver and exceed key KPIs for suitable maintenance and repairs using best practice maintenance techniques and procedures in evaluation and diagnostics of the equipment to ensure equipment downtime is minimized and performance is optimized.
Provide technical support to the local supervisors to ensure delivery of the maintenance program, planned and unplanned
Provide mentoring to the local technicians to enable the team to succeed in delivering the maintenance service
Provide guidance and input to develop internal procedures, safe work procedures and standard work practices.
Continuously analyse equipment efficiency to recommend and implement improvements and changes to maximize operations.
Read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings, schematics and any other technical information supplied by the manufacturers, including but not limited to operation and maintenance manuals.
Prepare and maintain a variety of records and documents related to the work performed.
Generate, complete and close work orders with correct and timely information.
Prepare technical reports and failure analysis.
Keep and properly use the tools and facilities provided.
Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Promoting a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable safety standards.
Know and comply with the Safety and Occupational Health Regulations in Mining, Internal Work Rules, Code of Ethics and Conduct, Loss Prevention Manual.

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site.
