General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

HR Operations purpose is to align business objectives with both employees and management. This purpose is reflected in everyday tasks.

The area develops and maintains business relationships with department managers to generate and implement correct policies and processes in line with the strategy.

Reporting to the Human Resources Supervisor the HR Advisor is responsible for delivering full employee life-cycle management for the business.

This includes supporting all People Systems including, but not limited to, Recruitment, on boarding, Work Performance, Career Development, Remuneration, Recognition and Reward, Exit the Company, Training, and Development, Discipline and Leave.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and / or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a HR Advisor role
  • Proven ability and background working on a range of employment / industrial relations issues.
  • Practical understanding of payroll processes.
  • Experience developing, updating, and supporting policies and procedures.
  • Experience implementing new systems and managing workplace change.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Experience with HRIS would be highly advantageous.
  • Effective in working with diverse teams and sensitive to local social, political, and cultural realities.
  • Effectively influence and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve required outcomes.
  • Remains focused in times of uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Understanding of change management and organizational development methodologies.
  • Employment practices and laws Panama specific and international overview.
  • Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables

  • Assists HR Supervisor in the overall activities and other related functions and operations of the Human Resource Team.
  • Providing professional operational HR advice on the interpretation of HR Policies and Procedures, Remuneration and Benefits, Employment Legislation, Employee Relations, Disciplinary Matters, and Industrial Relations.
  • Ensure an HR presence at site by attending morning line-ups, toolbox meetings and social activities that increase HR exposure to the work crews and understanding of the issues and concerns facing all staff.
  • Provide a proactive HR service, keeping people informed of site and corporate HR initiatives.
  • Provide Frontline support to staff in day-to-day HR operational requirements.
  • Educate operations on HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Company policies and workplace legislation.
  • Work with Labor Relations Advisors to ensure consistent application of all policies and procedures as they relate the they relate to the Collective Agreement.
  • Works collaboratively with the organization (site / functional) leadership team and HR team to develop a healthy leadership pipeline for the organization (site or function).
  • This includes prior learning assessment and application of promotion frameworks.

  • Supports the implementation of all talent, leadership and team planning processes, policies and procedures at the site or within the function which includes but is not limited to : succession planning, leadership selection and assessment, leadership development planning and the site’s annual organizational development readiness plan.
  • Support the implementation of wider business initiatives within client groups.
  • Educate operations on HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Company policies and workplace legislation.
  • Work constructively and collaboratively with the wider HR team.
  • Supporting the HR Supervisor with employee relations-related activities.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

  • Operational Requirements

    Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site.

    Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.
