Job description : Purpose
Reporting to the Human Resources advisor, the Human Resources officer will provide high level HR support. The position serves as a resource to HR advisor and supervisor on HR related issues.
The role supports HR-related needs and provides solutions within the HR department and business management. responsible for providing support in the various human resources and functions, which may include recruitment, staffing, training and development, performance monitoring, and other operational duties.
Linked also to data management and analysis.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the area of operation.
Understands and delivers information across the organisation. Aware of legal implications, case law and current practices
Ensure consistency in day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Support new employees upon arrival to site with matters relating to contract terms, compensation, transfers, development, social benefits, company benefits and attendance time keeping.
Maintaining employee records and paperwork.
Efficient and effective record keeping so that others can follow.
Implements, records and interprets metrics.
Provide accurate and timely reports as required.
Ensure consistency of processes that support the business units to meet the required levels of effectiveness and productivity.
Support with continuous improvement opportunities to improve the efficiency of the Human Resources team and reduce operational costs.

Perform any other duties as assigned by Human Resources.
Able to counsel and lead on minor IR related issues, has a sound to strong understanding of applicable legislation.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to clearly express ideas well in group or one-to-one.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey ideas, information and requests.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to recognize and respond appropriately to abnormal conditions or situations.
Excellent organisational skills.
Meticulous attention to both the detail and confidentiality of data.
Computer fluency essential with emphasis on MS Office programs.

Ability to analyze, interpret and explain employment law

Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a broad HR Generalist (or related) role.
Experience with interpreting the Panamanian Labour Code, operating in an industrial setting, developing and implementing an agenda focused on productivity and performance.
Exposure to a complex mining environment highly regarded.
Data managing and report handling.
Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English is required.

Cobre Panama is a remote site. The position is offered as Residential BIBO.
Work hours and rosters may vary as required by the business.
