General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Reporting into the Optimization Coordinator the Supervisor, Data Analytics works with our business stakeholders supporting them by identifying and analysing valuable information and helping them to translate data into insights.
Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience
A Bachelor of Information Technology or relevant degree and five years’ relevant experience or equivalent.
Experience supporting operational critical systems in a 24x7-production environment.
Experience with Reporting and Business Intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI, SSRS, SSIS and Excel
Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, PBI etc)
Knowledge of Power BI and analytics.
Knowledge of structured data, such as entities, classes, hierarchies, relationships and metadata.
Knowledge of database systems including basic SQL querying.
Ability to combine data from multiple sources when needed for the analysis.
Ability to perform data validation.
Strong written and oral communication skills to interface with customers and vendors.
Proficiency in Spanish and English is highly regarded.
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting.
Define company-wide metrics and relevant data sources.
Conduct analysis to support the business in making data driven decisions and actions.
Use systematic approach and collaboration with internal and external teams to investigate, analyze, and recommend mining improvement projects.
Data mine large amounts of raw data to analyze field quality trends and emerging / hidden issues posing risk to performance or hindering improvements.
Support cross-functional problem solving projects such as drill and blast, load, haul, and placement of mined ore and waste material.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements : automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
Assembling large, sophisticated data sets that meet business requirements.
Ensuring that the infrastructure is designed for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading from a wide range of data sources.
Work with our business stakeholders supporting them by identifying and analyzing valuable information and helping them to translate data into insights.
Perform other related duties as required.

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site.
