Key Accountabilities and Challenges
Ensure the requirements of the service equipment maintenance and repair program are met on a daily basis to ensure repairs are completed to a high standard within agreed time frames.
Assess job priorities and assign work to Dewatering crews, HDPE Welders, HV works.
Estimate amount of work required to repair equipment and how long each machine will be out of service.
Trouble shoot and perform complex repairs as required.
Coordinate equipment inspection programs.
Ensure jobs are scoped correctly working with the planning team to schedule equipment down-time.
Order parts and material requirements in JDE system as per limits of authority.
Ensure OEM maintenance standards and practices are executed in accordance with the planned maintenance program.
Provide feedback to management on MPSA’s maintenance contracts, warranties, performance etc. to ensure compliance against the contractual obligations.
Oversee and carry out checks to ensure the effective monitoring of operational performances and any corrective actions with a particular emphasis on achieving targets, production standards and development tasks.
Carry out checks to ensure safe, efficient and productive working practices are maintained at all times.
Cost Management & Reporting
As directed, gather inputs specific to your area during the budget preparation process.
Provide day to day compliance of the budget to ensure the budget and forecasts are achieved highlighting any variances to management.
Report on cost drivers such as attendance, overtime, equipment hours, task assignment, work performance and consumable items.
Accountable for approval of purchases and expenditure within delegated limits of authority.
Monitor daily expenses and ensure budgetary constraints are adhered to by minimising wastage without jeopardising the quality of the services provided.
Compliance / Quality Control
Promote and adhere to appropriate internal methodologies, policies, procedures and standards.
Consistently maintain a high quality of work across all allocated functions.
Provide input / informed commentary, improvement opportunities and areas of risk to management.
Ensure the quality of work output from the department is achieved against company standards and monitored daily to ensure delivery meets expectations.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and company standards through training and development of staff and promoting by example.
Safety and Environment
Ensure the work safe work procedures or Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) are in place for those tasks of high risk to equipment and employees.
Ensure operational and services personnel comply with the legislative requirements of the country’s related statutory regulations.
Ensure all new employees in the department complete MPSA’s inductions.
Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental and Social Responsibility awareness.
Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety, and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
Identify potential hazards and ensure action is appropriately taken.
Maintain a high standard of efficiency, safety and effectiveness.
Raise safety, environmental and Social Responsibility issues at meetings to ensure issues are addressed and resolved quickly
Produce daily reports of any lost time injuries as directed.
Ensure the election of safety representatives to the work group as required.
Ensure that the team complies with all site procedures, policies and site environmental requirements to ensure they always work in a safe manner so that the team achieves target of zero lost time and disabling injury frequency rates.
Provide day to day supervision, acting as a technical reference point and mentor for staff to ensure work outputs are in line with daily and weekly business plans.
Monitor performance and develop review plans for all direct reports.
Conduct formal career development discussions with employees to identify development opportunities and direct them to programs that can assist with defining future career progression possibilities.
Ensure fulfilment of staff against agreed rosters patterns and notifying management of gaps created during leave periods.
Identify training opportunities for the unit and work with the Training department and management to implement such initiatives.
Promote and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures through consistently demonstrating and encouraging safe work practices.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Education Technical Diploma or trades certificate in Mechanical Engineering or MechanicsCertification in Front Line ManagementHigh Voltage certification.
Skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Strong drive and personal sense of ownership and accountability.Strong ability to work in a "team" environment;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment;Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment role.Minimum 3 years’ front line supervisor experience including staff supervision, budget management and tactical planning.
Experience in managing contract maintenance work teams and specialist maintenance service providers.
Strong English and Spanish language skills preferred.
Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered as BIBO.
