The international service engineer is responsible for the overhaul, repair, fault diagnosis and on-site servicing of Alfa Laval equipment, such as separators, decanters and plate heat exchangers.
The purpose of his role is to help customers with technical operational issues by executing troubleshooting and field service requests received through the Global Marine Service Desk.
The activities will mainly be carried out as requested by the Global Marine Service Coordinators and will be primarily in the Americas regions but can also be in the other regions (EMEA and Asia).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Servicing and re-commissioning of old or existing Pure Ballast Treatment systems.
Diagnose, solve and report solutions and improvements on board of vessels
Perform troubleshooting with full autonomy on board of vessels in the requested port, and if needed, sail with a vessel until the problem is solved.
Provide qualified service on customers Ballast water treatment system and surrounding equipment.
Change components, upgrade equipment and control systems, perform commissioning and re-commissioning, perform safety checks, train local FSEs, customers and crew in product usage.
Execute Performance Audits.
Ad hoc participation in Service projects
Work and deliver on assigned tasks independently and remain contactable 24 / 7 and be available whenever Global Coordinators request for service attendance.
Work together with other Global Marine Service Organization members as a team, and act as a technical support backup to Global Technical Specialists and Global Coordinators if so required.
Assist in performing local field service jobs or other tasks if required.
The job requires frequent cross-border travels and working rolling schedules.
Candidate Profile :
Electrical, Mechanical or Marine engineer or equivalent with experience in control system equipment
Minimum 5 years working experience as a Field Service Engineer.
Ideally 2 years of working experience in Ballast water systems used in Marine.
Hands on experience in Electrical, PLC and Controls
Strong experience on automation / system integration. Preference will be given to ship electricians who have sailed with ships in the past.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluent English, verbal and written.
Good cross-cultural communication skills.
Working experience in an international context and across borders with colleagues and customers from other cultures.
Good reporting skills.
Good electrical / instrumentation skills
Working experience in CRM systems and planning tools.
