Job Summary The Database Designer is recognized by the project team as a technical expert in designing databases for a suite of applications.

This role is responsible for defining and implementing the databases required to operationalize the business initiatives, and how they will support the business need.

You will develop highly scalable, low latency, application databases. This job can be located remote or at either Milton Keynes, UK or Somerset, NJ and reports to the Director of Advanced Applications.

Responsibilities Include but not limited to : Design and implement highly scalable, low latency databases Monitoring database performance Database capacity planning Database performance tuning Database upgrades and backward compatibility analysis Database cost analysis and cost savings recommendations Design and support database migrations Creating scheduled database tasks Understand application requirements and how they translate to database design Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set database specifications Provide technical support to team members Mentor and provide guidance to members of the development team Maintain confidentiality with regards to the information processed, stored or accessed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience 7+ years of experience with designing and implementing highly scalable and low latency SQL databases.

7+ years of experience with MySQL, Postgres, and SQL Server database engines 7+ years of experience designing databases for a variety of applications 2+ years of Scrum or SAFe experience Required Skills In-depth knowledge of database engines and development tools Excellent understanding of database design and principles In-depth knowledge of SQL database systems In-depth understanding of AWS RDS databases In-depth understanding of tiered architecture systems Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate complex subject matter- both verbally and written Ability self-manage, take initiative and be resourceful Ability to work both individually and in a team environment Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.

Ability to multitask and complete tasks with efficiency and accuracy Independent learner Preferred Qualifications / Skills : ITAM experience NoSQL database experience Redis cache experience ETL experience Azure experience Git experience Jira experience Unique Requirements Extended hours are required to complete some special projects Additional Information #LI-AJ1 #SHIUK >
