Job description : Purpose

Purpose

The Category Management Advisor will deploy the CatMan approach to the designated Company's Strategic Categories (high complexity and spend), allowing the Company to maximize the value obtained from a Total Cost of Ownership perspective going beyond the traditional sourcing approach, and assuring the sustainability of the Cobre Panama Mine operation.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama, Company's policies and guidelines and in particular the Supply Chain Guidelines.

Execute the Strategic Sourcing of the on a defined portfolio of categories (high complexity and spend) under its administration.

Independently manage the selection, development and assessment of the supply base.

Independently manage upfront scope development, demand planning, market assessments and market changes (monitoring category indices and market changes), vendor selection, end to end RFx management and evaluation, contract negotiation and change management transition plans.

Interface with key client executives, ensure effective visibility of the contracting strategy, and build strong working relationships with internal clients to meet operational and financial targets.

Interface with the operations teams to establish category management requirements from planning to execution.

Independently manage supplier relationship management including but not limited to tracking performance metrics, supplier safety record, fluctuating cost drivers and customer satisfaction metrics.

Ensure timely and professional service to end users in preparation for evaluation of commercial submissions received in an RFx.

Independently develop and execute negotiation strategies and award recommendations to mine site and executive management ensuring the optimal price, terms, scope, execution and supplier performance.

Collate and analyze current spend data

Contribute to Identifying opportunities, prioritizing and developing a high level category segmentation approach.

Develop an internal category profile defining the Total Cost of Ownership, procurement processes, spend profiles and risks

Develop an industry and supplier profile, including understanding the industry dynamics, potential suppliers and industry and supplier financials

Independently define the Category Strategy, outlining internal change tactics, the sourcing strategy and strategic options for the category.

Also identify and quantify opportunities defining the normalized baseline and benefits potential.

Participate in developing and negotiating agreements / contracts with selected suppliers with the assistance of the Contracts Supervisor.

Prepare business cases to facilitate the drafting and signing of contracts with legal, suppliers and designated contract approvers.

Develop communications and implementation plans for the category

Work cross functionally with the procurement team, where needed, in order to support the execution of selected activities within the strategic sourcing process

Support the development of the category approach by analyzing category data and reviews with stakeholders.

Participate in the implementation of the Category Strategy on small to medium categories including the coordination of projects and stakeholders

Independently and intricately analyze supplier index formulas to ensure they are fit for purpose and correctly mathematically applied.

Develop and manage category demand plans

Critically select and apply appropriate tools to support the development of sourcing plans.

Develop and maintain communications and relationships with key stakeholders

Manages supplier relationship management process including but not limited to the develop and monitoring of supplier scorecards, tracking performance metrics, supplier safety record, fluctuating cost drivers

Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance.

Implement FQM Way culture in the Contracts team - "Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together."

Perform any other duties as assigned by Contracts Superintendent or the CatMan Specialist.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Education College Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Supply Chain related essential (completed professional certification + adequate experience can suffice where degree is incomplete).

Computer literate - usage of all Microsoft Office products and essentially must demonstrate specific ability to use excel (pivot table, vlookup, goal seek, etc.

in order carry out complex analysis and prepare and present data / findings clearly using excel + power point. Professional qualification in Category Management desirable (but mandatory where there is no college degree) Skills Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills (must be able to communicate information accurately between different parties who do not have direct communication) Strong ability to work in a "team" environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment Adept at adroitly managing multiple personalities in cross functional teams, stakeholder meetings, and supplier negotiations to the benefit of the situation.

Attention to detail and analytical outlook is essential. Must take pride in work and strive for accuracy. Experience Must have held a similar position within the mining industry for over 5 years (desirable) Can demonstrate experience of independently carrying out and presenting complex analysis.

Can demonstrate experience of independently carrying out end to end tender processes. Language Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required and proficiency in Spanish highly regarded.

A willingness to undertake language training desirable.

Working Conditions

Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered to be located on Cobre Panama Site, however due to the current COVID-19 conditions, the personnel will be allowed to work from home in "tele trabajo" scheme or at the Company's office in Panama City o Penonome City as per Contracts Superintendent instructions, which can vary from time to time.
