quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.
With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-
held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.
The Emergency Response Team Coordinator is responsible for
o Motivating ERT members through provision of training, assessment, advice, assistance and praise where due.
o Liaising with the Training General Foreman to ensure the needs of the ERT and training facilitation are met.
o Leading by example as a hands on trainer operating equipment where necessary and providing on the job practical advice,
training and assessment to ERT members as required.
o This position is essential for achievement of the Barrick Buzwagi Succession Plan and Community Relations initiatives as
assigned.The specific duties of the Emergency Response Team Coordinator include but are not limited to the following :
o Prepare and maintain ERT training and assessment material to Australian standards outlined in the Metalliferous training
and assessment package (MNM05).
o Maintain a training program for the ERT including regular drills, practical and theory training.
o Establish and maintain an enthusiastic and inclusive ERT culture.
o Maintain a training register of training, attendance and duration of the training.
o Ensure all ERT equipment is in good operating condition.
o Ensure equipment is updated, serviced, repaired and certified as required.
o Assume Fire Officer responsibilities for the site including regular inspections of fire systems and reporting findings.
o Provide First Aid training for ERT and site personnel.
o To liaise with the Health, Safety & Training Manager and the Training General Foreman to determine the training for the ERT
and general training needs.
o Maintain effective training records, in co-ordination with other training staff, to ensure information is available in a
timely and effective manner.
o In conjunction with the Training General Foreman develop training courses.
o Supervise, develop and maintain operating instruction manuals plus training notes and handouts with particular focus on ERT
o Prepare and present training lectures, both in the class and in the field.
o Prepare and carry out assessments for awards of qualifications.
o Assist in the organization of courses carried out by external training providers.
o Provide on a monthly basis, a detailed report of training and other activities conducted during the period to the Health,
Safety & Training Manager.
o Attend relevant departmental safety related meetings as agreed with the Health, Safety & Training Manager.
o Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Health, Safety & Training Manager or the Training General Foreman Qualifications & Experience :
Secondary Education and or Certificate IV in Training & Assessing or Occupational Health & Safety. Experience :
o Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience in a mining, construction or minerals processing environment with particular emphasis on Open
o Mobile equipment operating experience.
o Emergency Response Team leadership or membership.
o Experience in training, coaching and mentoring subordinate personnel to ensure consistent levels of service are achieved.
o Strong and proven leadership qualities are essential.
o Previous international experience is preferred but not essential.
o Ability to maintain accurate records
o Self-starter, able to work and plan daily tasks with minimal supervisor
o Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills in the English language.
